Now it's out locally that Tombstone was caught on tape talking w/Blago's bro, Chief of Staff and 4 other staff members. I knew Tombstone had a reason to come clean now. His lame defense will be 'you didn't ask the right questions' LMAO. Dems reserving judgment right now. Huge suprise! Guess Burris wil finally get what he wants. Something to write on that tombstone of his.

Our state has demonstrated time and again that popular government is simply a failure here. They need to ammend the part of the U.S. Constitution that requires each state to have a republican form of government so that we in Illinois can try Constitutional monarchy, or anarchy, or Communism, or a theocracy or something.......The current system of electoral democracy may work elsewhere, but it doesn't here.

I dont think they are really reserving judgement.
They want the guy gone.
You had to know the guy was a bit off just for standing
on the same stage with the giant wad of hair.

He picked me, he picked me!
Getting the nod from a crook.

You had to figure the guy wanted it way
too bad and was in to deep.

try my state.

you need 2/3 of each house in the state legislature to pass a budget.

we have a $41 billion deficit. republican's don't want to raise taxes. democrats don't want to cut services.

you have venal corruption. but we have structural paralysis. and a lower state bond rating than louisiana.

I have an idea... how about we morph C(r)ook county into the District of Chicago

sure they'll still be corrupt but they won't have a say in the State or the US congress. Then the rest of us will actually have some honest representation.

Political post of the year. You been drinking?

Personally I feel IL should be punished and allow 1 senator till the seat is open for election. As Jesse would say 'times they are a changing' in addition to telling that poor released POW 'you're in the way of the camera' Like a Simpsons episode.

nope, no drinking. it's just that everyone with pol next to their name can't be believed, right? they tell everyone what they think they want to hear so they can get votes. so, talking out of both sides of their mouth with one hand patting you on the back, and the other sticking bribe...er, donations in their pockets.
so, yeah, he ought to fit right in with the nest of vipers he joined.
the dems were outraged at the thought of a blago pick getting seated, until the worse option of having a republican winning a special election reared it's head. so, you guys got what your dems in charge wanted, which was not having the populace vote, and taking the chance of having a republican win the seat.
i think it's outrageous, but i wonder where it will go from here. the guy should do the right thing and resign....lol yeah, like that's going to happen.

But he's Mr. Clean. The rubber band has stretched too far. We don't need the Olympics or any stimulus money. It will just be stolen. Cook Cty already has a 10.6% sales tax on top of one of the highest State income taxes in the nation. Al Capone's Cicero has become a haven for illegals because the Feds took over. No carding anyone. Jst give the ticket. That should be enough. Guess this may qualify as an anti Obama post as it's his nasty seat that has caused a bunch of this. You wait there will be many other heads falling. Rahm boy among them.

you really don't need to inoculate every post you make with "sorry it doesn't qualify as anti obama" and "guess this may qualify as an anti-obama post...".

you don't like him. he's to blame for blago appointing burris. we get it.

what i need clarification on is timm's endorsement deal with kool-aid. and how people with their heads in the sand drink it.

Considering that George Ryan is from Kankakee and Bill Cellini is from Springfield, I would hardly say that every problem is coming out of Cook County.

Ryan was your typical Chicago politician all the same
definately not a Republican
only a (R)ino. I would like to see who would get elected if they didn't have that cancer to appease

sorry not aware who Bill Cellini is

OK I'll let John Kass do it for me:

Sen. Roland "Tombstone" Burris (D-Lying Weasel) hatches his lies by the minute; they bubble out of his mouth like insect larvae from the mud.

Once their wings are dry, they launch from our senator's lips and buzz. Yet with all the buzzing, let's consider a few things.

First, there are two Chicago politicians who should get credit for Burris being in the Senate to embarrass everyone in Illinois. No, not just former Gov. Rod Blagojevich. He appointed Burris, but that's not the whole story. I'm talking about two other Chicago pols:

President Barack Obama.

And Illinois House Speaker Michael "What Affidavit?" Madigan.

I know it is heresy to mention Obama's name here. Obama's legion of gentle Hopium eaters will become enraged, like flesh-eating zombies in a video game, and trade in their cakes of Hopium for the chance to gnaw on my rather large and meaty head.

Yes, my head is quite chunky with meat, but facts are facts. Obama was the beneficiary of Burris' lies.

About the only person who believes Burris didn't lie under oath to the Blagojevich impeachment committee about his contacts with the governor's fundraisers is Burris himself. Without those lies, the Senate would never have seated him in Obama's old spot.

"I have made an effort to be as transparent as I can," Burris said Tuesday after being caught in another lie, popping the cork on perhaps his 189th lie since Sunday. "I have nothing to hide."

Yeah, right, Senator.

Even Mayor Richard Daley lies better than Burris. Years ago, when confronted by Tribune reporters about how he'd given $100 million in affirmative action contracts to white guys with Outfit connections whom he'd drink with every Christmas Eve, Daley developed his strategy.

He turned purple, the hair on his temples flying up like the wings of dark angels, and he released his terrifying Mayor Chucky persona. This so frightened timid TV political reporters that they wouldn't follow up on Tribune stories.

Burris is trying to do the same, but he can't intimidate the media, not with that ridiculous Please-Don't-Squeeze-the-Charmin mustache on his lip. He played the race card to get seated in the Senate, but the race card doesn't have muscle now that America elected a black president.

"He's a liar, an absolute liar," said state Rep. Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs), who questioned Burris in the Blagojevich impeachment investigation. "He swore an oath, and he can't keep his lies straight."

Because the Blagojevich crew's phones were tapped by the FBI, it's logical to assume that Burris decided to come clean before the tapes make their way through the federal grand jury. That's pure speculation, but speculation born of more than 25 years studying the antics of Illinois political weasels in their natural habitat.

But who is responsible for Illinois being represented by a lying weasel in the U.S. Senate?

Though Blagojevich appointed Burris, that was just the beginning of our descent into madness. Like I said, there are two others who deserve credit.

Obama could have demanded a special election to fill his own vacated Senate seat, the one that Blagojevich allegedly tried to sell to the highest bidder. Obama also pressured Senate leaders to seat Burris, in the hopes of ending the fiasco before his inauguration.

And, after Burris tried to fix the lie he told to Durkin in the impeachment hearing—that he had no contact about fundraising with Blagojevich people other than one aide named Lon Monk—Burris sent an affidavit to a Madigan flunky, state Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Madigan), dated Feb. 4.

Currie held that affidavit in her desk, conveniently, until after Burris voted last week for the near trillion-dollar Obama pork/stimulus package. Now Madigan is demanding an investigation of possible perjury and has sent the documents to a Springfield prosecutor.

Yet the deed has been done. Obama's porkulus was passed. Obama got Burris' vote, and Madigan has an excuse to attack Burris because he doesn't want Burris leading the 2010 Illinois Democratic ticket when Madigan's daughter runs for governor.

See how it works? They get what they want. And we get Tombstone Burris.

They talk about transcending politics, but all we can hear are the flies.
