Sdjcom... You couldn't be more due. There is something about Race 5 and you that I cannot shake, however. I feel that this is your race. In my mind the two of us cashing this $12 trifecta play together is a foregone conclusion.
I'm all in. Let's do this! |

I once played Penn National on a random Thursday night at Mohegan Sun half in the bag last summer. Tonight, I mark the second time I throw my hat in the fray at Grantville, PA's oval.
I'm left alone to myself tonight w/ no friends and no girlfriend, and no Bruins, so here we go. $5 Late P4 R6: 6,8 R7: 4,6,7,9,10 R8: 1,3,4,5,7 R9: 5 $250

Race 5: 3-5-4
Why the 3 is 12/1 right now is something I can't understand. |

Did you see that?! It should've been the 3! The Penn National Roughriders screwed us!

I'm always trying to learn more about this sport, so does anyone out there know what constitutes a foul or brings up an inquiry? It seemed to me that the 3 had the inside lane into the stretch, and the 5 and 1 both jerked to the left into his path and caused him to slam on the brakes, so to speak.
Is that analysis accurate, or was it just a case of a jockey missing a spot and driving his horse up another horse's ass? |

In short, what is the fine line between good riding and a foul when veering into another's path?

what constitutes a foul and what does not. If I wasn't losing money, I'd find it comical. On a whole, I think the slack is one "path", so say coming down the stretch, you're on the rail, that's the one path. If you drifted out to the "two path" w/out seriously impeding another horse (ie making it pull up, check heels, etc) you usually get by. Other factors, is the horse you impede/bump running huge or fading? Are they themselves drifting out, and not because you caused them to do so, and if they aren't drifting, did they drift when you lugged in? In short, it's a f*cking mess. I didn't see the incident in the 5th, I'm gonna see if I can catch the replay.

which tracks i play that day is the entries i look at before pulling up PP's. that way i'm not wasting time on a track if i like only 1-2 races with six horses in them hard to make a big hit, which i haven't had lately. the conditions and type makes up my mine before starting on handicapping |

Well that blows, unless the P4 pays 3 of 4...I'm out already! But looking through old results that happens some times at PEN, so I'll stick with it.

I play these tracks because they are usually the only ones I can play. It's the same bitch I always have: If you work a regular 9 to 5, the only time you can enjoy racing of the highest quality is on the weekends, and that is only if you can somehow convince the wife and kids to leave you alone for 4 hours. Good luck with that. If it weren't for the Mountaineers and Penns of the world, there is no way I could get into racing. And there have to be millions out there just like me.

Hey, I just graduated Sunshine Park and am now a Suffolk Downser. I always root for the success of that track since I read TD Thornton's book a year ago.
