Default Santa Anita 1st

In the opener at SA Gomez is riding a 4/5 shot who is quickly approaching the leaders at the top of the stretch. He needs a place to go so he boldly shoves his mount into a tight spot between the 3rd and 4th horse. He completely knocks the 6 horse off stride. The 6 ends up running 3rd and there's a legitimate case for him being cost a placing.

Of course, there's an inquiry and the result stands. I had no dog in the fight but I can't imagine that being an infraction that's allowable across the board.

I had a $5 WP on the 3. If the roles were reversed there is no way they let a 55-1 take half the field out on the turn and still leave him up to win.

I thought that would come down for sure. I needed the five for my threes and fours, can't believe it really.

In my case, the only standard that applies is the "I bet on the the #3" factor.

It's like "they" know how I bet the race. Mysterious indeed.

you can't take that horse down!!!

bothering another horse is one thing

doing it when you're a RUNAWAY winner is quite a another

the CALI stewards **** up all the time but NOT in this case

Gomez ****ed up a ride yesterday when he got stuck behind horses
guess he's tired of jocks on quitting horses not getting out the way, LIKE I AM

No disagreement that the horse was wayyyy the best. my take was that he knocked the 6 off his stride and that might have cost him 2nd. the other thing is that you do have to keep your path and not interfere with other horses, something he appeared to do.

I look at it differently. Check out (the headon of) today's 10th at TAM, and the ride on #2 at 21:1. The jock obviously subscribes to your theory, and took his sweet time getting around horses. She wins with a Gomez type ride.

We can compare this to one of the PSEUDO traffic jams on a NYC highway. You can either sit behind idiots who have no where to go OR you can cut enough of them off so that you get clear and can go about your business.

Jocks that aren't cognizant of what's happening in a race (a MAJORITY) shouldn't be riding. Jocks that can't properly control their horse in the drive or otherwise (again a MAJORITY) shouldn't be riding.

I can understand Gomez' frustration, as he's a superior rider. I applaud the stewards for being able to appreciate it as well.

Get out of the way!
Get out of the way...
You are out of your mind.
Totally.

Yes indeed. Your horse does all the work up
front and you are going to get out of the
way.
A spoke got lose off your bicyle rim and impaled
your frontal lobe.

I suggest we place fatmen at various
intervals around the track with Yield signs
to raise when appropriate.
This is not golf.
The rules of the peloton do not hold here.
Good god...

Taking the horse down is a difficult call on that race
though. He may have ruined the 6's chance to place.
I see that.

The winner should of come down, it's plan and simple. Gomez was in the wrong place and should of waited till he had racing room. Gomez pushed his way out and put the other horses and riders in harms way with his actions.
