i don't know if it's that simple. you're talking about a relatively new system that would have to handle 10's of millions of inquiries. perhaps right now they just want to continue using the i-9 and put off e-verify. they have had instances already where someone was kicked out-and were a legal citizen. erring on the side of caution maybe in this case, with the desire to get things up and running being a higher priority?
besides, illegals will still get work, either by using anothers valid id, or by working off the books. and yeah, that happens.

Vets who were injured in war should pay for thier own insurance?

My work required me to provide proof. You mean that the fake birth certificates and fake social security cards are good enough to fool employers so why bother? Yeah, Barackovich can't even prove he was born on US soil

I tease

maybe

i do know we require everyone to fill out their apps on site-we had too many folks taking off with them, and having their girlfriend fill them out for example. and yeah, we have to see two proofs of i.d. right now, all that's required is that you ask for that and fill out the i-9. the issue isn't with a company like mine-it's with those who don't bother or don't care that they're hiring someone here working without a visa. that won't suddenly end because of this verification program. workers and employers who wish not to abide by the rules will continue to do so.
i'm not saying why bother, i'm saying that i don't know that the site they have up and running is any better than what we have now. and i'm also saying that there have been times where legal workers were shown as illegal. employers can certainly still do e-verify, it's just not a requirement as yet in most places.

An absolute disgrace to even consider this. These people are frightening. When they are tossing money to every special interest group and crippled bank they would even consider putting the onus of their injuries on Vets is mind boggling. But not that surprising either.
