Rodeo's Maiden
One of the most impressive debuts I've seen.. I remember watching this and thinking he was going to be something very special..
I don't think he ever won again... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpSFFFrQZHY |

Didn't he get scratched in the gate in his original debut?

By the way, I believe the Champagne, or was it the Futurity, was his only other start.

that was an impressive debut.
did you notice that the rider never looked back until after the wire? he sat with his head glued straight ahead throughout the stretch. nowadays as soon as they open up by a length or two they'll start all the showboating, backward glances and underarm peeks. it's my pet peeve, just ride the damn horse. |

He was a 2yo sale horse from FT Feb. Sold ok - but not great. He was drifting out through that win ... as nice as the debut win was .. didn't look very sound ... but the same could have been said about Curlin drifting out through his huge debut win. |

He was a gate scratch in his non-debut at Saratoga.
