Default 7/24: Belmont (4th-9th)

What looked like a fun day became a bit of downer with a couple of blah exotic hits but an early exit in the P4. Hope you did OK... Better sequence of races tonight (First post 3pm) and hopefully some formful performances. Del Mar has an $80k carryover which I may get to over the course of the day and will certainly discus on tonight's "At the Races"...

Default BELMONT TURF: Juvy heats (2nd/4th) OFF..

FYI...

2nd and 4th are 2yo 7f MSW's for colts and fillies respectively...

4th is the race with that intriguing set of siblings.

I'm incredibly annoyed that they took races 2 and 4 off the turf (mostly because I was betting out on a horse in the 2nd) - sometimes it's justified and I understand why they chose to take those races in particular off, but this is absurd. It's clearly not a safety issue and there's nothing to save the course for.

The Nassau County Octogenarian Association has rented the BEL turf courses for the summer break and will be holding daily wheelchair polo matches there.

NYRA remains clueless.

I chased Marq of Love his last two out to no avail. Rest assured he walks today while I have no action on him.

sidenote...Intiyaco 12-1 m/l @ 5.5f @ Monmouth tomorrow. Is this a cutback worth playing or a trap move?

Is that a joke or a poorly formulated question? The straight 3 is scratched.

I hate that rule, but it helped Pat and I today. The 4 was the favorite in the 8th until the last minute when the 5 took a lot of money. I have to guess the payout was so good since the 2 was likely heavily singled on tickets today and the 4 must have been lightly used. I am guessing it was the 8th that produced the nice payout today.

I was at Belmont today and have to say these twilight Fridays are a great idea. There was a nice size crowd out in the back area today and people were having a really great time, not sure why they wouldn't do twilight Fridays through Saratoga, sure most people around Saratoga are there for the racing, but I would think they would still get bigger crowds and a lot of college kids.

I am also not sure why they turned off racing from other tracks on the TV's and closed also simulcast wagering right after the last race despite a band about to play, possibly they have to stop at a certain time due to wagering rules, but the people I were with were upset because they wanted to play other tracks.
