I think it's the right move. Handicaps are worthless if they aren't going to be done right. What is the point of a handicap where the top weight in a grade one for older males is 119 pounds and on the same card, 2yo males will be running with 121? I don't put the blame on Frankel but it's guys like him that have caused this and racing secretaries around the country that are scared to give real weights because they don't want to lose their good horses to one of the thousands of other similar races that will be run somewhere that same day or within a week.
