SAT - MILLION DAY at Arlington (Full card)
Happy Million Day. The weather looks to play a major factor on the 27th Million Day card. Rain is expected in the morning, the temperature in the low 90's, and the wind blowing around 20-30MPH. The racing is fantastic throughout the day and will be story when it's all said and done. Opportunities galore with three separate PK4's and a Festival PK3 (G1s) to boot. Here's a look -
Arlington Park R1 - OC62k / N3X (Turf) #1 General Charley #2 Wicked Style #5 Marq French #6 Caberneigh R2 - OC50k / N1X #3 Galloping Gulch #2 Double Silver #6 Crowned Royal #5 Spanish Baron R3 - Forward Pass 50k #6 His Greatness #3 Retap #1 Zigaree #4 Dynamite Bob R4 - MSW 38k #1 Sky Target #12 This is My House #10 Oak Motte #3 Target Practice R5 - Top Flight 50k #4 Upperline #1 Calhoun Entry #8 Sister Resistor #11 Richiesgirlgotgame PK4 - 2 3 5 6 / 3 6 /1 10 12 / 1 4 8 = $72 R6 - Hatoof 50k (Turf) #3 Prytania #6 Omega Cat #5 Afternoon Stroll #1 Romacaca R7 - G1 Secretariat (Turf) #1 Cliffy's Future - Tough spot to make turf debut. #2 Hoosier Kingdom - Has taken care of Hoosier breds, but this is a whole new level. #3 Proceed Bee - Faces better after decent American Derby effort. #4 Laureate Conductor - Lightly raced Clement runner is going in the right direction. Top choice. #5 Oil Man (Ire) - Big chance with another forward leap. Gets top jock Gomez. #6 Quite a Handful - This group will be quite a handful as well for him. #7 Take the Points - Grinder type looks for another board finish. #8 Reb - Looking for 4th victory in a row and would not be a surprise. #9 Black Bear Island (Ire) - High Chaparral's little brother has a big shot to find the winner's circle. Must break well. #10 Giant Oak - Failed at odds on in American Derby and will most likely be an underlay again. Selections - #4 Laureate Conductor #9 Black Bear Island #5 Oil Man #7 Take the Points R8 - G1 Beverly D (Turf) #1 Alnadana (Ire) - Comes across the pond after taking a Group 3 in France. #2 Pure Clan - Price might float up with all the Euro talk. #3 Points of Grace - Huge effort in latest and must be considered for all slots. #4 Black Mamba (NZ) - Cali invader might be at the mercy of the slow projected pace. #5 Mad About You (Ire) - Weld knows what it takes, but the distance looks to be an obstacle. #6 Tizaqueena - Should be a pace factor if nothing else. #7 Dynaforce - Just not the same as she was last year. #8 Denomination - Don't ignore because she's been keeping some fancy company in France. Selections- #2 Pure Clan #1 Alnadana #8 Denomination #3 Points of Grace R9 - G1 Arlington Million (Turf) #1 Einstein (Brz) - Gutsy performer looks to sit an ideal trip and he'll refuse to let any runner get by him. Makes amends for last year. #2 Presious Passion - No secret about his game plan, but a soft course might hurt his chances of a wire job. #3 Just as Well - The pace would have to collapse for him to have any shot. Pass. #4 Stotsfold (GB) - Looks like a must use underneath at a juicy price. #5 Mr. Sidney - Mott / Desormeaux at a price always tempting, especially with quality G1 winner. #6 Gio Ponti - In career form and there might be more room for improvement. Scary with devastating turn of foot. #7 Gloria de Campeao (Brz) - Taking a stand against after unlikely G1 Singapore score. #8 Cima de Triomphe (Ire) - Top class runner is battle tested and ready to make a splash in U.S. debut. #9 Recapturetheglory - Might keep PP company on the front end before the anchor comes out. Selections - #1 Einstein #8 Cima de Triomphe #4 Stotsfold #6 Gio Ponti PK4 - 1 2 3 5 6 / 4 5 9 / 1 2 / 1 6 8 = $90 PK3 - 4 5 7 8 9 10 / 1 2 3 8 / 1 = $24 R10 - OC50k / N1X #9 Ivory Empress #1 Bar Babe #3 Breezing Rain #5 More Kisses R11 - Spectacular Bid 50k #3 Dixie Band #7 Turf Melody #1 Auspicious Risk #2 Fantastico Roberto (Ire) R12 - Clm 25k (Turf) #11 Elegante' #1 Ms Manipulator #8 Classic Actress #6 Richwood Silver PK4 - 1 2 6 8 / 1 3 9 / 3 7 / 1 11 = $48 Good Racing Luck

Being a SoCal player the elements seldom come into play on the turf. We get no more than a handful of yielding, soft or even good sod.
Any hints about how the running of these races might be effected? |

poly has been more front when wet & hot which, we're guaranteed today. The wind is a different matter and although welcome on a 90 plus day a concern if it's going to be 20-30mph.

Just got home after very enjoyable day despite having little success at the windows.
Tide and Herkhorse, Thanks for the credit in the Secretariat although I played #4 Laureate Conductor 1st and 2nd, but not 3rd. My buddy ChicagoTom cashed in on the super and made the beat feel better. I had an outstandling time and I remembered (or misremembered according to Clemens ) on why this site is special. Steve deserves the credit associating with some 1st class people like Cannon Shell, GBBob, Scav, and Brock. I had great time spending some time with them today.
