Default Chace City

Been waiting for his return since his last race (Bashford Manor, where Circualr Quay won) when tried to jump a fence out of the gate and still finished well. He's entered in the Saratoga Special on Thusday. 5/2 second choice behind the Pletcher horse. CC will likely get my support! Any thoughts on this race?

LOVE CHACE CITY. Chace City was the best horse in the Bashford Manor. If I get 5/2 on this horse I will be one happy man. I know I said I wouldnt bet until Oct 7th, but at 5/2 I wouldnt be able to pass this guy up.

Chace City is much the best in this field IMO.

Oh my--2-1 was still a nice price in my opinion. I pretty much loaded up on this horse today. I think the horse would have taken the Bashford Manor in his last race. He is going to be a horse to be reckoned with. $6.30 for the win. A nice nice late afternoon for me.

They always run faster when they don't run into or try and jump the rail

Sweet! Loved it when he was sitting at 4-1, but I'll take 2-1 for the win!

Euro- What does loaded up mean?
He was ultra impressive today. Nice win as right and very glad I stayed away from this card today. The 3 horses I liked as win bets all ran 3rd.

Zippy, I was salavating when he was sitting at 4-1. At that moment I figured the smart money hasnt been wagered yet. Then he dipped to a tad over 2-1 and that is where I thought he would go. But 2-1 was still a gift on this horse.

Well my standard bet is $100 across the board. This time I went with a straight $500 win bet on Chace City. So a nice tidy$1000 profit.

Wow, thats a nice hit Euro. It was pretty cool how Chace City spurted away and held off The Roxy King. Nice effort and well ridden by Prado.

Yeah, that is a little ballsy bet for me. But I just felt that horse was best in the Bashford Manor and this field was much weaker and plus he didnt have to jump the rail. So I thought a win bet would be the way to go.

So that's why the his odds went down so much!! lol. I had much less to win on him, but was happy with the results too. I was disappointed with his place payout. Somebody must have crushed that at the last minute, I thought it would pay at least $4(based on the pools with about 3 mins to post), instead it paid $3.20, with the show bet paying $3.10!!

You know, this was one of the factors that played into me playing a win bet. I figured that there would be large sums of money bet on him to place and show. I thought the win bet, in this case, was the way to go. But heck, the show bet was more logical than the place bet in this case.

Yeah, I should have had more $$ on him to win, but squandered some singling CC in the P-4 and Grand Slam(which I didn't hit or I wouldn't call it 'squandering!!). Sigh.. I know better, but still couldn't help myself. In general, I play mainly WIN bets these days with occasional P-3's & 4's and grand slams. By the way, that grand slam payout was pretty nice: $121.50 for $2!! Pretty good for a horse that paid $6.30 at the end.

Not sure why you would expect this horse to pay more than he did to place. It was a tiny field and there were 5 betting interests and 4 of them were at 5/2 or 2/1. The lone horse nobody was betting didnt rrun 1st or 2nd, so why would you expect $4 to place?

Great race to load up on the win if you had a strong opinion, but terrible race to bet to place.

Because with 3 minutes to post the #1(entry), #2, #5 & #6 ALL had about 10K to place on them out of a pool of 48K.. generally that translates into a place payout of $4 or so. CC must have taken A LOT of money in the place pool late for his payout to be much lower.. Look at King of the Roxy, he paid $4.30 to place!! and he was 5/2 at posttime. CC was a tepid 2-1 favorite, yet he was pounded in the place pool at the end for a $3.20 payout. Either way, the place bet turned out to be the poorest value wager on CC .

A very unimpressive renewal of the Saratoga Special.

Let's hope there are better 2YO colts out there than these kids ... a LOT better.

I thought it was a good performance by Chace City. The time was ok and there is room for improvement. At least the $120k will be enough to get him into the Derby.
