Default 1/15: Gulfstream (4th-9th)

Thursday Gulf carry sequence was every bit as difficult as advertised, and the three winners deserved every bit of the nearly $60,000 it returned. Even the lowest priced winner in the sextet, the 3-2 Powder Princess in the feature, came in a difficult event that required several includes in the short field. Once yopu fold in overlaid 14-1 Cruzatte (4-1 ML) in the 5th, tough to love Kimmel runner Khancord Kid (12-1) in the 7th, $11.20 Our Dreamette in the 4th and $13.00 Odysseus in the nightcap, and you can see how challenging this Pick Six was. Clearly, Wednesday was the day that will be remembered as one that got away... Hope you did OK.

Oaklawn Park commences perhaps its' most eagerly anticipated season yet today, and it looks like a reasonably approachable card at GP in advance of another good weekend of winter racing.

I always seem to find it hard to like anything from that particular barn. Around the time of the 2 late races Rich Eng, who was in a tourney yesterday, was on with me. He had scored with Khancord Kid and needed that 14-1 Nadal from Sheppard in the nightcap for a very big double score.

Maybe... I thought there was more than one myself Tom. I originally figured two. The carryover amount must not have been added into the published pool on the chart yesterday. You would have had $227k minus 20% takeout for a distribution of $181k. But even then, three winners leaves nothing for consos??? So 2 winners (66% of pool-$120k) maybe and $60k (33% of pool) in the $526 consos?

The pool was a little less than 140K ($135,806) according to YouBet ...

I would have thought there were 2 given the 15% take out number found on GP website.

From DRF for 2010 meeting....It would make sense that on P6 winning days 70% split to 6 of 6, 15% to 5 of 6 and 15% take out thus for 01/14/09

$2 Pick Six: To win the Pick Six, you must pick the winners of six designated consecutive races. If no one correctly selects all six, 70% of the net pool goes into a carryover until six are picked.

Takeout Information

Win, place, and show: 17%
Daily Double, Exacta and Pick 3, Pick 4 wagering: 20%
Trifecta and Superfecta wagering: 25%
Pick 6 wagering: 15%

That would have to have been one winner of the whole pool then, no? They published the P6 pool as $135,806. The carryover was $91k. That's $227k.
