Default 9/6: Saratoga (Day 40-Hopeful/Glens Falls)

Saratoga's 40 day session comes to its' traditional end this Labor Day, and by all measurements it was another delightful journey at the storied oval that means the most to American Thoroughbred Racing. From the particularly outstanding stakes performances that percolated in the meet's early weekends via wins from Malibu Prayer, A Little Warm and Blame, through Alabama and Travers Day efforts of Blind Luck, Afleet Express, Rapport, Rightly So and Discreetly Mine, this Saratoga season was highly entertaining, memorable and profitable. And needless to say, for myself and the partners of Dee Tee Stables, the entire meet was rendered unforgettable on August 29 when Ausable Chasm broke her maiden on the Personal Ensign undercard. While there are those who will leave Spa 2010 unmoved, for most stakeholders, fans and horseplayers, Saratoga sojourns annually produce sepia-tinged stamps in life's passport whose ink will remain indelible. It has been one of those trips for me this year, and I hope you've enjoyed riding along as much as I've enjoyed having you with me.

"At the Races" is live from 9-10am today followed by two hours from Friday, and we will tape Tuesday's ATR between 3-7pm during this afternoon's meet finale before taking Wednesday and Thursday off. John Velazquez and Mike Repole join Seth Merrow and I on "Keyword: Saratoga" 10:30-11:30am on Capital OTB-TV Channel 12 as well. Outstanding stakes-punctuated action across the country today! Hope you've enjoyed the summer and are ready for the Fall Championship Season!

Default Enjoyed the Trip ...

Wasn't able to play Saratoga as much as I would have liked due to the fussing and fighting in IL over online wagering. But that does not mean that I didn't follow Saratoga racing. Steve, I look forward to your daily thoughts, and attempt to benchmark my handicapping thoughts to yours.

Good luck today. Great job on the meet!

Absolutely not Ronnie. The top 4 were the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices (And ran 3rd, 1st, 2nd and 4th). As long as Forever Together was in the money, those exotics were going to be slightly 'low'. I did well there personally and was pleased with the $122 triple having keyed Keertana.

Was a good end to the meet too having taken three brutal beats Sunday and earlier in the day... Before the Glens Falls, I was getting bummed that the excruciating shortfalls of Syzygy, Picture Hat and Tutti Va Bene were going to make the last couple days a down way to finish a great meet. So Tom Proctor coming through, yet again, was an upbeat finale to me.

Hope everybody did great! Was an intense but rewarding weeks...
