Default Hollywood Nights 10/22

Looking forward towards a nice evening of baseball and horses tonight. Oak Tree on Friday night at the Wood. Hopefully the whole crew comes out to play.

RACE-1 40k mdn claimers 7 1/2F(S)
#7 ABSOLUTLYPOSITIVLY(2nd)-Been competitive at the level with two seconds and a third. Shades come off for this four year old who should get a good stalking trip from the outside post.

#1 ARMENIAN STAR(3rd)-#4 LONE JUSTICE (1st)-Similar lines here with these three year olds. Both dropping into the claiming ranks for the first time and both coming off poor performances on the turf. Leaning towards the 4, beacuse of a couple of angles. Trainer change in to the Troeger barn, Espinoza off which is always a good thing, he seems to have some tacticle speed and his sharp bullet work on the 15th (fastest of 53).
The 1 could warrent a look, based on the drop and he's only making his 4th career start for a trainer who is having a good meet.

RACE-2 ALW40K N1X 6F
#1 IRREFUTABLE(2nd)-Four year old Baffert colt making his 2nd career start. Broke maiden at first asking last December. Draws rail for return in this very short field. Most likely your very short priced favorite.
#3 MOONLARK-Another Baffert colt who will most likely be on the lead. Making his 3rd start off a layoff.
#4 SCOFIELD BARRACKS(3rd)-If the pace melts in this short field he could be there late to pick up the pieces. Does seem like a bit of a hanger as this is his 6th try this year to break out of this level.

RACE 3 MDN32K 6 1/2F
#5 DIME(1st)-Kathy Walsh trainee making first start off a brief freshening and shows a solid 6 panel work leading up to race. Walsh has solid numbers with 2 year olds and retains Rosario who also rode the 7 last out.
#3 CERTAINLY CERTAIN-Thinking this is going to be the horse on the lead and might try to go wire to wire Has been competitive at the level and get in a bit light with Jesus Velazquez on board, just hoping he gets brave on the lead and holds on.
#4 ULTIMATE QUESTION(2nd)-Ran well on the dirt of the Fairplex last out, hopefully he can continue to improve and run another good race on the synthetic where he really hasn't been too impressive so far. But respect the connections enough to include on my tickets.

RACE 4 CLM8K 5 1/2F
#5 SWIFT DEMAND(1st)-Ellis horse making his 2nd start of a layoff. Won at this level and distance back in June. Should get a nice stalking trip.
#9TWO VIOLINS(2nd)-Speedball will be on the muscle early breaking from the outside. Finished ahead of SWIFT DEMAND last out when breaking from the outside as well. There is other speed in the race, but this is the guy that they are going to have to catch.
#2 QUOTED-Versatille 4 year old dropping to his lowest level. Interesting to see Kewin John aboard, could be a good thing or a very bad thing. Wouldn't be suprised to see him in the winners circle or eased, but can't toss Oneill in the last leg of the early quad.

Early 4 $.50
4,7
1,3,4
3,4,5
2,5,9
$27

If I get a chance late, I will post the Late 4.
Good Luck everybody.

RACE 5 CLM32K 6F TURF
#1 SASSOU(SCR)-Thrid off almost a year long layoff for this five year old. Guessing P. Val is going to send him breaking from the rail in a race that doesn't seem to be loaded with speed. Also taking a slight drop.
#3 PACK YOUR BAGS(1st)-Actually beat SASSOU last time out when running for 40k. Bejarano should have this stalker in good position at the top of the lane.
#7 BRENTHURST(SCR)-Ted West (off to a good start with very limited numbers) horse should be forwardly placed. Taking a step up and does own a win over the turf course already.

#5 MR. CACHT-I'm tossing this Mullins horse. He's making a huge drop coming off a ten month layoff. His last two races were big (a second and a third in a stakes and graded stakes race). I am willing to let him beat me at what I'm assuming will be a very short price.

RACE 6 STARTER ALW 1 1/16(F)
Tough race to figure out, might be an all for some people
#4 MOONDANCE ALI(1st)-Going two turns for the first time. Thinking P. Val could steal this one on the front end as she does look to be the lone speed.
#2 TIZ A BUD GIRL-Rosario could be coming late with this Sadler filly. Solid works since her last race (on the turf). Dangerous connections which should obviously be respected.
#5 SECRET OATH(2nd)- Lightly raced four year old from the Marty Jones barn (who is having a solid meet). Back on the synthetic after running sixth on the turf last out, but she did come from way out of it. Just think she might have some upside here at a price.

RACE 7 OC 80K/C 1 MILE TURF
#6 AGGIE ENGINEER(1st)-Could be the lone speed of the group. Consistent gelding has hit the board in 10 out of 14 career starts.
#2 METEORE(SCR)-This four year old finally gets some class relief. He will probably be forwardly placed and at very unattractive odds.

RACE 8 MDN25K 7F(F)
#4 SUITABLE ATTIRE(3rd)-Four year old is going back two the poly after two good races at the Fairplex. P. Val will be near or on the front with her.
#10 MAGIC LANTERN-She has hit the board twice at the distance (second & third). Hasn't been disgraced in her last three races on the synthetic stuff including a second place finish here in june running aganst MD Specials.
#5 BAR ROCK OMAMA(1st)-making her second career start for Jeff Mullins. Finished way up the track while dead on the board last September at Fairplex. Drops in for a tag this time and in against what seems to be a weak bunch.
Mullins other horse the 7 REAL OBVIOUS warrents some consideration as well.

Late quad (before scratches) .50
1,3,7
2,4,5
2,6
4,5,10
$27

Good luck

Default Early Analysis....

1st - I'm going to include the 7 in the first leg in my .50 ticket, but definitely playing against in my shorter ticket. Doubt equipment change after 12 starts with them makes a hoot

The 4 looks unbeatable - 2 nice 7F drills over the surface, HOF jock taking the mount for nondescript connections and doubt it's all about the 1k he'll earn. Clocker report stands out

2nd - All button. Irrefutable sure looks much the best, and can't deny Baffert off the layoff, but drawing the rail with a ton of pace outside him first off the bench is shaky. Anybody's game.

3rd - Dime. Should single here, but including the firster on the rail. the Candy Ride is a goat - Rosairo bails - if he can't get it done at the condition how in the hell is Antonio Lopez Castenon going to? At 3-1 no less? Crinkle... Trash Can. Certainly Certain has shown nothing but disdain for the surface - the indomitable Jesus Velazquez in the irons at 7-2? no thanks.

4th - 3 horse race 2-5-9... Maybe toss in Towser at a big number underneath in the exotics.

.50 play

1,4,7//1,2,3,4,5//1,5//2,5,9

45.00 67.80

2.00 play

4/1,2,3,4,5/5/2,5,9

30.00 271.20

I played the .50 ticket that I posted. I have to tweak the late ticket due to the scratches.

Yeah, but I have to admit with the 2 races coming off the sod, I am less excited about it.

I think I'm going to try to beat Mullins in the 5th and single the 3. But I'm still looking at what to do in the 7th now.

The 7th is a skullbuster - I really like the 4 stretching back out 2nd off, should be a fair price too. I'm probably gonna hit the all there.

Mullins 0-20 first off - I like your play there... I'm taking a long look at the 8 as well

The 7th got harder with it coming off. I just tried to look for a couple of horses that have had success running on the fake stuff. The thing with the 4,5,7 for me is, they are all coming off layoffs and didn't scratch when it came off the turf. So are the trainers just using this as a tune up for something else down the road?

Yeah, there is really no recent synth form on any of of 'em. Pretty damn ambitious of Mulhall to put the 4 straight into a G1 off a year + layoff, think he can handle the plastic and the distance helps.... hopefully the price holds - but outside of just class, it really is a complete crapshoot
