Default Don't Go West Girl!

Uggh. Leading with one race remaining in the Monmouth contest yesterday, someone put a huge % of their bankroll on You Go West Girl and got me for 1st. The frustrating thing is only the winner got a WS trip to Vegas though most of their contests qualify 2 or 3. Not to mention a difference in prize money. Of course I can't call it a tough beat b/c I didn't even know someone had bet the horse heavy in the contest. In a real money contest, there is no way to know who anyone has or how much they've put on a given race....So I had to wait until the last totals updated to see I got nipped. Oh well. 2nd is helpful but not the same.

Tough beat but still a good result.

I play in lots of real money contests. They almost always come down to someone making a large bet (often times going all in) on the last race. This is important strategy to keep in mind for future contests.

I hear you, I knew it was possible. With the lead I had and no strong opinion in the last race, there was no incentive for me to bet it in the contest.

Tough beat. Good job getting to that point, Monmouth tournaments are TOUGH, very strong competition.
