Well Said, what with Zenyatta’s great accomplishments, she should be Horse of the Year, she won the Classic last year, however was beat out by Rachael Alexandra and rightfully so. This year however the difference is a 19 race undefeated record. Sure Blame is a great horse, as is Goldikova. Why didn’t Goldikova enter one of the races Zenyatta ran in? To make the comparison that Goldikova ran against the boys in Europe is simply nonsense...I’m sure Zenyatta would have passed them all as well....They could have all came here to run where they fit and if they fit in the G 1 races where Z ran, so be it.
The argument being made against Zenyatta is she didn’t run in races with the boys in 2010. My answer is, she did last year and won commandingly. Adding more to that argument is just how convincingly she beat horses in the BC like Looking for Lucky, Quality Road and all the others she flew by...Then there’s the argument she was washed up, not so, she has more racing in her, however that remains in the hands of her owners. Like most sources of smear and firestorm inviting outlets, this is a bizarre and sad spectacle Pricci has created. He gets nothing right as he clearly received all the supposed innuendo secondhand acknowledging that he has no idea what I actually said because he didn't bother to actually listen.

He was never called a moron by me, which seems to be his pressing agenda, though he has provided plenty of fodder for that now. On the Monday after the Personal Ensign, on TV and on ATR, I said, "calls on the internet for Rachel Alexandra's immediate retirement based on her tiring late in the race are moronic. Is anyone suggesting Life at Ten immediately be retired?"

At that time a comment writer at his website told Pricci that I had called him a moron to which Pricci then wrote several insulting things directed at me. I thought that silly and petty, but never said a thing about it. Pricci has seen me 3-4 times since then and not said a word, but obviously he has been laboring under the weight of this imagined slight.

So three months later here is this deranged and stunningly incoherent missive making little sense about anything except how anyone that has any dissenting opinion regarding Zenyatta's immortality deserves excoriation. I won't dignify his lunacy with any further comment, but I will say it's one of the greatest compliments to my career thus far to be included in a grouping with Andy Serling and Steve Crist, as well as fellow SiriusXM broadcasters Bill Finley and Dave Johnson.

What kind of a stupid question is this? A combination of Quality Road having pace pressure and turning in a non-effort is the reason why he ran last - finishing a city block behind the immortal Oklahoma Derby winner Pleasant Prince. One should make of the Whitney that it featured the 2nd best collection of horses for a North American race this year behind the BC Classic.

Is Blame less-than because Haynesfield dominated him in the Jockey Club Gold Cup but could only finish 11th in the Classic?

Haynesfield won the JCGC because he was loose on an uncontested lead. He was 11th in the Classic - because he was involved in a pace battle.

Yes.

No.

Was it fair to categorize Zenyatta a synthetics specialist last year any more than calling Blame simply a horse for course this year?

Sure. Zenyatta's never lost on synthetics and won the '09 BC Classic over it. Blame has had some of his best moments at Chuchill Downs.

You have to be more specific. What about 4 Grade 1 victories - 3 over females by a female and 1 over males by a female? That was Proviso. Is there like some point system you're looking for?

In winning her 17th consecutive race this year while competing exclusively at the Grade 1 level, thereby eclipsing the consecutive win streak of former two-time Horse of the Year champion Cigar, is that alone worthy of Horse of the Year recognition?

That streak extended over three seasons. I think she's a cinch for a 'Horse of the last 3 years' award.

Hell no.

Did 6-year-old Zenyatta?

Yes. So did Rachel Alexandra...is that supposed to mean she should be considered in the Horse of the Year voting this year?

Sure.
