Default What you can get for 30K this Saturday at Churchill

Seeing high-priced yearlings end up in Maiden claiming races is nothing new, but the amount entered in 30,000 MD claimer at Churchill on Saturday is crazy. Especially when nearly all are only 3 year old colts. Talk about a waste of money.

River Oaks is out of one of the truly great fillies/mares of the last twenty years, Lakeway.

Great Exuma, a Bernardini colt out of an Elusive Quality mare, won his debut yesterday at CD.....................for $15,000 claimers. He was purchased for a heck of a lot more than that (maybe $300,000?) and was trained by Bill Mott. To spend that kind of $$ on that pedigree, just to dump it for peanuts.......wow. He was claimed by connections I have never heard of.

You, too, could have 2006 Belmont starter Oh So Awesome for $5-8k every two weeks at Evangeline.

Great Exuma was a home bred for Diane Snowden...probably still paid the $60,000 stud fee for Bernardini but they did not pay $300K for him at auction.
