Tom Roach
Having been out of town and offline for a while, I only just now read that he passed away September 3rd. I didn't know Mr. Roach, but friends in Kentucky who did always had good things to say about him. The book Three Strides Before The Wire introduced me to him and his story as it related to the breeding that produced Charismatic. From the book, and from articles I read through the years about Charismatic and his origin, I felt as if I knew Tom. Sad to read that he's gone at the early age of 63.

I am pity posting, like Deb-O-Deb does to me.
Seriously, you're one of the few posters I take seriously. So sorry this made you feel bad...but you shouldn't RIP ,in my opinion. It takes some of the luster off. |

Pity posting? Please, none of that. Thanks.
I can't do justice eulogizing someone whom I never met, but wish I had. His vision produced one of my favorite horses, whose story, and the stories then of those around him, I embraced. That's the way with public figures, I suppose. Their lives touch us, even without personal contact. All I can say is . . . if the hereafter offers an opportunity to meet some of the people who have affected us without their knowing it, then someday I'd like to meet Tom Roach. |

I was sort of kidding, although I have no shame and know Deb-O-Riley pity posts me. Now that I think of it----BeefHerky probably does it ,too.
But oh well. So.....I follow you.For me,I find more in the no names around us.I really do.Not that a few personalities haven't reached me. Rather than yak on as I tend to do...the only thing I'd say is RIP, to me, is kind of watering down your intent. If nothing else..Rest In Peace is much better.Again, just my thought. Mostly your post was swell...really was. Now I have to think of your gang name....yours is hard. |
