Default The Latino Vote........

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/pilar-...b_1213769.html
I thought with Florida coming up after SC the latino vote could be in the news in the days ahead. It seems to be a one sided vote for President at the moment. If VoMitt Romulan were smart (which i see no evidence of when he opens his pie hole), when it comes to a VP choice he might wanna consider someone like Marco Rubio (no fan of his either here), but it could sway a few votes his way, what do you guys think? The fav right now seems to be that POS Bully Chris Christie, who himself seems poised to run in 2016, depending on the results here i guess lol!

Latinos don't care for Rubio, who is Cuban. He lied about why his family came to America and was caught out pretending they were Castro exiles when they were not.

They are talking about immigration right now in the debate, and the audience is not applauding as they are all describing a path to immigration. They want to go back to Cain's electric fence and electrocution.

Good points on Rubio. It's probably gonna be Christie, i have thought that ever since he was the first big endorser, following his not running himself. But I would thing when the circus rolls here next week, i would think Rubio will be popping up for Williard, whether he ends up on the ticket or not.

I agree that Rubio will probably endorse Willard, as the Party Line Guy.

Christie has been on TV alot, shilling for Mittens, and frankly, his bully personality is starting to come through. And it's not attractive.

VP ... I think Santorum will be Mitt's VP.

I have ultra-conservative Republican family in Naples, Tampa and Marco ... I'll see who they fall in love with.

I think that ship sailed awhile ago, just ask the Jersey teachers, and the folks at Meadowlands! He's a piece of crap! Sanatorium's act may have played well in Iowa (as i guess he won now, not they can count straight or keep track of the ballots there lol), but i am not sure his ultra religeous views will play well enough for Williard's chances in other states.

Cubans arent Latino's?

It is laugable (and wrong) to say that Latino's dont care for Rubio.

It's hardly laughable.

Mexican-Americans are 2/3 of the U.S. voting Lationos. A recent poll of these voters showed 13% are more likely to vote for a ticket with Rubio on it. 11% said they'd be less likely to vote for a ticket with Rubio included.

Mainland Puerto Ricans are the 2nd largest group of these voters. Both PRs and Cubans descended from Spaniards and the Taino Indians. Society in PR was maternalistic; among the Cuban Tainos, paternalistic. They hardly got along well. Hell, if you ask 10 PRs what they think, one or two will tell you they think the Cuban Tainos used to eat the PRs.

Puerto Ricans will not vote Republican because a Cuban-American is on the ticket.

Oh, yes, it's also an absolute fallacy that Rubio got elected in whole, or part, in Florida because he carried the Latino vote.

Rubio won his Senate election with 49% of the total vote in a 3-way race and got 45% of the Latino vote.

Rick Scott won the Florida Governor's race with 51% of the total vote vs one other candidate while getting 50% of the Latino vote.

That's probably the best measure of how effective having Rubio on the ticket would be.

I think you are making a completely different point. The statement is that latino's don't care for Rubio. If he got 45% of the Latino vote in a three man race including the Gov of the state who was a Republician running as a moderate independent and a Democrat how does that show they dont care for him? Your Mexican voter percentages dont say much other than most people dont know him or much about him considering that 76% of those people in that polled chose another option. As a matter of fact being that the vast majority of Mexican voters are located in CA and Texas they wont play much of a role considering that it is extremely likely Texas is going to vote GOP and CA is going to Obama.

The idea that these percentages really show or prove that Latinos dont care for Rubio is a weak case. Any GOP candidate is going to have trouble with the immigration stance that they are taking. And unlike Obama who carried 90% of the black vote, Rubio is not a democrat unlike Obama and the vast majority of black voters. Yea Rubio isnt going to push the ticket to huge margins of hispanic voters like Obama did with blacks but he will have a lot of positive influence in FL where 57% of Latinos voted Democratic in 2012. To think that the first hispanic candidate wont be supported by Hispanics in at the very least luke warm fashion

Do I understand you correctly?

Even though:

Rick Scott (obviously non-Latin) got only 1% less of the Latino vote than he did overall.

Rubio got 4% less of the Latino vote than he did of the overall,

You mean that there is nothinlittle to infer regarding Rubio's ability to significantly affect the Latin vote?

I understand your points, you may be right.

But to me, when a Latino candidate's Latin vote percentage don't even match what he got overall, I think that's meaningful.

I dont think that 51% in a 2 person race is better than 45% in a 3 person race especially when the 3rd person in the race came from the person in questions party. Was the 45% an overwhelming percentage? No but again the original remise made by Riot was that in general Latio's dont "care" for Rubio. Well 45% of the voters in the Senate race cared enough to vote for him. As I said if Rubio were to be on the ticket I guarantee that you wont see similar %'s from hispanics that Obama saw from blacks but more because of party politics not because Latino's dont "care" for him.

All brown people in America are not alike, nor do they all consider themselves by the descriptor, "Latino". Just like all black people in the United States are not automatically "African-Americans".

Not according to polling data from 12-13-2011
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1211/70364.html

Quote:
Putting Florida Sen. Marco Rubio on the Republican presidential ticket would result in a net gain of virtually no Latino votes for the GOP, a new poll shows.

While 24 percent of Hispanic voters surveyed said they would be more likely to vote Republican if Rubio appeared on the ballot, that was nearly canceled out by the 21 percent who told pollsters they would be less likely to vote Republican if the Cuban-American senator is the party’s vice presidential nominee, according to the Latino Decisions poll Monday.

And 46 percent said that Rubio running would have absolutely no effect on their vote.

I have asked the question twice and have yet to get an answer. Well a coherent answer. I'm terribly bored with training and racing cancelled.
