Redskins get trade raped
They give up three 1st-round draft picks and a 2nd round pick in order to move up four whole spots.
The Rams move back from #2 overall to #6 overall. Considering that the Skins are in the same division as the Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys...it's a pretty safe bet those two other 1st round picks will be high ones as well. Fisher backed himself into another great situation. He's got 3 draft picks in the top 40 this year. Two 1st rounders (both will probably be top 10 overall picks) in next years draft ... and two more 1st rounders the year after that. Not to mention...former #1 overall pick Sam Bradford was excellent as a rookie and has only played for two years. |

Chris Long is one of the best pass rushers in the entire game. They took an excellent pash rusher in the 1st round last year in Robert Quinn. Chris Long had 13 sacks and Quinn had 5 sacks and 3 blocked punts. They did that despite the fact that the Rams top 4 cornerbacks were on injured reserve and the fact that the Rams had a terrible run defense and were always behind in games. Give Chris Long and Quinn a healthy secondary, a competent offense that forces teams to have to pass and score, and a run defense that isn't brutal ... and both of these guys are easily capable of 15 to 20 sacks. There was one point last year where Chris Long had 13 sacks and the Rams entire offensive unit had only scored 12 touchdowns. Having great young pass rushers does no one any good when the corners can't cover, the defense can't stop the run, and the offense can't score, and teams just want to grind the clock out with runs and quick passes. |

I don't want to mush Griffin III and the Redskins but this is awfully early to do this trade. A lot can go wrong before now and the draft.
Snyder will never get it, you have to develope your draft picks and free agents in the salary cap age. Even if Griffin is great the Redskins will struggle for the next five years. |

Maybe I am crazy but I don't think this is a bad trade IF you are convinced that RG3 is the next coming.
A somewhat washed up mediocrity like Carson Palmer commanded two first round picks. Look at what the bears traded for cutler. I am of the opinion that QB is the most important position on the field by far and if you see "the guy" you do whatever it takes to get him. If RG3 IS what they think, it ends up a steal. If not, they should blame the talent evaluator and not the negotiator. I think RG is the real deal. |

RG3 is nothing more than a media cumshot right now.
Blaine Gabbert looked like a pretty good passer running the spread offense against Taco Tech in the Big 12 conference. He was supposed to be more "pro ready" than RG3. Going into the 2010 season ... these were the only Big 12 QB's to throw for over 1k yards in the NFL... Quote:
I would not trade 3 high 1st round picks and a high 2nd rounder just to move up 4 spots so I can draft the next Vince Young. |

After letting it sink in for a couple days, I think this may go down as one of the worst trades ever in the NFL.
Complete panic after Peyton said no thanks. RG III may be the next coming, but nobody knows that. Carolina has to be laughing their asses off right now. They suffered through one horrible season and used their No 1 pick on a QB that has panned out. Redskins are risking three No 1's and a No 2 on a guy that may or may not pan out. If Newton flopped, Carolina would have had another No 1 this year and gotten one of the top two in this year's draft. If RG III flops, the Redskins are scrambling and overpaying free agents to fill the void left by the four draft picks lost. |

Snyder is a double agent for the Giants.

From what I can tell....
RG3 is going to be a great pro. If this trade lands them a franchise QB for the next 10-12 years, then the compensation was worth it. RG3 throws a fantastic deep ball, and in this offense I think it's a terrific fit. The next step will be signing a deep threat, perhaps a Vincent Jackson. Is it a bit of a risk yes, hell the kid could slip on a banna peel tomorrow, and your screwed! But I do not see this guy as a Heathbar Shuler, I think he's going to be a great player is the league for years to come. We had to address the QB position in a strong way, after years of average to below average play!

Griffin is going to be a bust. He isn't half the player of Vince Young.

if this trade is supposed to be an indication of how good a deal bruce allen can make, then i'm more worried than ever. they overpaid, plain and simple. that's a lot to give up for a guy who has a better chance of being tim tebow or mark sanchez than peyton manning or tom brady.
and i have no faith in shanahan, who went with an OC based on nepotism, not ability.
