Default DEA sweeps up UC student in raid - and forgets him in a cell

This innocent young man nearly died. This is unbelievable

Quote:
At the DEA field office in Kearny Mesa, Chong said, he was handcuffed and left in a holding cell for about four hours. He was then moved to an interview room, where he was told he had been in the wrong place at the wrong time and would be released shortly. One agent even promised to drive him home.
Quote:
The DEA acknowledged, in a statement to The Watchdog on Monday, that agents left someone in a cell after a raid on April 21 — until they found him and had to call paramedics. San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said that medical call came on April 25.

In the never-ending War on Drugs, would this be considered collateral damage?

I think it would be considered negligent and they will most likely get sued for millions and millions for being stupid.

Wow. You have zero respect for the laws of our country.

He was never charged.
He was forgotten in a cell for 4 days without water or food.
He slashed his arm while suffering hallucinations from dehydration.
He also ate glass while hallucinating from dehydration.

DEA says he didn't have the meth, it was left in the cell by the DEA.

Quote:
Days crawled by. No food. No water. No bathroom. He remembers biting his eyeglasses and using the broken shards to scrawl a note onto his left arm.

“Sorry Mom,” he tried to write.
Quote:
In utter confusion, Chong said he ate some of the broken glass he’d used to slice his arm. He also ingested a white powdery substance the DEA said had been left in the cell inadvertently.
Quote:
Chong was rushed to the nearby Sharp hospital, where he spent five more days recovering from problems including a perforated lung that was the result of eating broken glass.

I wonder what they would have done with the body if they had waited a few more hours before he was found? Call him a John Doe and send him off to the morgue?

Not as gullible as you think, rocket scientist. Why do you think they tried to kill him and blame it on an OD?

I was not actually referring to you in this thread.

It was one of the rare times you've been able to see through the lies, and I understand how you could think my post was pointed at you, due to our previous exchanges.

He was not busted selling.

Please, yes - go at least read the story before you "bother", so you have the basic facts correct?

i just read the article on msnbc. outrageous, no excuse for what happened. i don't care what crime you've been arrested for, you don't get left for five days without even the basics.

The DEA, which identified Chong only as "the individual in question," said the 23-year-old and eight others were swept up during a raid of a suspected Ecstasy distribution operation where agents found guns, ammunition, 18,000 Ecstasy pills and other drugs.

It is stunning that people so willingly believe anything that comes out of government officials mouths.

More like anything they read in the paper or hear on TV and read on political blogs sponsored by the party they support.

Well, yeah.

However, since there are no effective differences between the two parties.....

But you are more precise.
