Default Update from Atlanta

0-0 after 5 innings. Both pitchers brilliant thus far.

The Braves just had runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out but Clemens struck out 3 in a row. Doh!

Allow me to give another update!!!
The Astros went down 4-1!!!
Cards are winning big in the 7th inning.
Latest update is that the Astros have made tee times for next week at their respective golf courses.
Say goodnight Gracie.

Oh my, the little less than .500 team that could seems to have jumped the tracks! St Louis pounding Milwaukee 10-3, Stros already dead. Yawn.
repeat after me folks, .500 teams have NO BUSINESS chasing after championships, its an insult to baseball, and I hope to God it never happens.

Meanwhile Yanks win coupled with Twins and Tiger losses gurantee homefield throughout the entire postseason no matter what!!(Al won the all star game again this year).
Phillies crushing em, not dead yet, but on life support. Have to check out the Pads and dodger scores tomorrow morning.

Don't you just love it when a sickening story like a team that couldnt break 500 all year long going for a playoff birth crashes and burns like the Hindenburg? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gander,I told you that getting Wickman from Cleveland was a terrific move by Atlanta. That round boy can close a game.I think Cleveland was nuts for giving up a guy with that kind of stuff. Teams do some strange stuff. This guy converted 45 of 50 save chances during the Indians nice 2005 season. Then, instead of signing him, they waited until they couldn't get Trevor Hoffman,or B.J. Ryan .Only then did they sign him for 1 year at 5 mil.He had 1 bad week in June, but was pitching great in July(when they traded him to Atlanta.)They got some class A catcher for him.I guy ranked as the 20th best Atlanta prospect.LOL..Atlanta already signed Wickman for 2007.Atlanta just got him too late(6-21 disaster in June.)

"Wickman has been as effective as Schuerholz hoped, converting 15 of 16 save opportunities with a 1.19 ERA. Overall this season, he has 30 saves in 34 chances.

Other Braves relievers have blown 27 of 47 saves."-A.P.

Regarding the Braves: I posted when Mazzone left that they would miss him very much, and with all the blown saves and major injuries to Chipper and others, the Braves luck ran out. Still, the Brass should be commended for 14 consecutive titles, although the naysayers will say that 1 WS in all that time is poor, and they had less than stellar competetion for much of the time in the division. It will be interesting to see what they do in winter!

Oracle, you are acting like the Cardinals have this way better record than the Astros. Both teams are hovering right at .500, hence the 1.5 games that separate them in the standings.

Astros will win the next 2 and the Cards will lose the next 2. Count on it.
