i didn't realize the claimant was white....BUT, the former employee was suing for sex harrassment, and working in a racist environment. she had to personally be a different race for it to bother her?! i disagree! i cannot stand to have people use racial slurs, and they learn very quickly i do not wish to hear them, don't condone them. using slurs is using slurs....i don't agree with the judges ruling. you don't have to be black to be appalled and uncomfortable to hear the N word.

"While Plaintiff may have faced significant challenges in managing a workplace allegedly permeated with racial discrimination, her difficulties do not fall within the zone of interests sought to be protected by Title VII [of the Civil Rights Act of 1964] and cannot support a claim for racial discrimination under that stature." I read the entire complaint, and there's still PLENTY in there to go forward. Whether any of the black employees will decide to sue is the question- there's a statute of limitations issue, I think. But if you haven't read the NY Times piece about the woman who was Deen's head chef, I highly recommend.
