Default Karma: The Alan Grayson Great Train Robbery

Famous for comparing the tea party to the KKK, Congressman Alan Grayson, who carelessly voted for virtually every spending bill/program put forth, throwing away taxpayer money is now a 'victim'.

80% of his $22.8 million, stolen and out there stimulating the economy.

Hope Nancy P. explains to him that the $18 million is now $23.4 million once it hit the street and was spread around. Besides he still has a little over $4 million left and only $5 million in liabilities. Stupidity should not be accepted in bankruptcy court and investing 80% of a $22 million portfolio in one firm surely qualifies.

Long distance phone company?

International Discount Telecom where he was President. It was bought out and I suspect that was his cash-out. Funny thing is according to Wiki he started out professionally as an economist.

According to his most recent annual financial disclosure report on file with the House of Representatives, Grayson has a minimum of $22.8 million in assets, as well as at least $5 million in liabilities.
A Harvard Law School grad, Grayson helped create a successful long-distance telecommunications company.

Technically, professionally he started out as a janitor and night watchman while he was putting himself through school. I know the purpose of this thread is to crow delightedly over a self-made man's misfortune's (as the Right prefers their men to be to the manor born), but the actual details about the fraud are pretty interesting:

So glad to know he lost only 40% of his portfolio, this time. The article mentions a previous con where he lost tens of millions. I don't begrudge this man for being self-made, it's his carelessness spending taxpayer money while dismissing any group that voices concern over spending as akin to the KKK or wanting to kill sick people.

I'm also happy to know I started professional life as a caddie.

Yea but still am not sure when the $18 million loss was put on the books. If it was prior to his last disclosure I applaud him for losing only 40% and not 80% of his portfolio.

Besides with 100 plus percent plus investment returns he should have that money back in a year, if he still does have $20 million plus.

It's not the Tea Party's fiscal position that he was referring to. It's this kind of statement he was referring to:
