Just hope for some slug out of this group to go win the Sunland Derby or suck up for 3rd in the Arkansas/Louisiana Derby or something.

Nevermind...no one from that race is going anywhere, except for maybe the 2 horse. I thought he ran a sneaky good race.

It turned out to be exactly what it was - a glorified N1X. Agree the 2 ran a very nice race though there wasn't much to beat in here, and a 9-5 or whatever he went off as, don't know what can really be taken away from this, regardless of what most thought of the ride Kent D. gave him.

What was dismally clear, though, was the On track attendance. Granted the weather, with 2 of the 4 turf races coming off may have played a small role in the diminishment of this once proud Derby Trail stepping stone.

What can't be denied is that the new point system, for better or worse, has forever altered the way all of us approach the Derby and the Derby Trail's former impact to Tampa Bay Downs.

It was downright sickening to watch this mess, while recalling the days in recent TBD history where it actually meant something to enter this race. Everything - from the defeated tone and manner of the race call, to the overall malaise of the atmosphere this day was palpable, if not unspoken.

The top two are both well connected and have every right to improve. Not saying I like either.

I thought it was obvious I was joking about the 2.
