Default one sportsbook's Preakness odds

Here are Preakness win odds being offered by SportsInteraction:

Horse odds-to-1 (except CA Chrome)
California Chrome, * 7-10
Danza, * 5
Social Inclusion, * 9
Kid Cruz, * 12
Ride On Curlin, * 12
Bayern, * 14
Dynamic Impac, * 16
Strong Mandat, * 16
Ring Weekend*, 16
Pablo Del Monte, * 20

It's not a very generous line overall--works out to about a 22% "take". (It's understandable, since there's no disclaimer that CC has to run.)

Difficult to take Danza at those odds.

You have a point there. What about Strong Mandate, though?

I was focusing so much on Chrome and Soc Inclusion that I didn't notice the listing of 2 non-runners.

That's a promotion with a small max bet, right?

Here's 5Dimes' current betting line...

Chrome is -160, which is 5-8.

Horse , Odds
Dynamic Impact, 20
General a Rod, 20
Calif Chrome, 5-8
Ring Weekend, 30
Bayern, 13
Ria Antonia, 22
Kid Cruz, 15
Social Inclusion, 6
Pablo del Monte, 27.5
Ride On Curlin, 20

Those odds amount to a "take" of 9.3%

I took Social Inclusion at 8-1 on Bovada on Tuesday night. Come Weds AM they had adjusted it to 6-1 and then the race went off the board when the ML odds came out. I like the 8-1 value a lot.

Likely there will be some sucker that plays Danza or Strong Mandate and I'd guess, knowing SportsInteraction's reputation, that the bet will be handled like futures, no refund.

Very good price on Social Inclusion, Intense, good job.

Here are the odds several hours later... (the 2nd fig by each horse)

Chrome is -160, which is 5-8.

Horse , Odds
Dynamic Impact, 20, 18
General a Rod, 20, 27
Calif Chrome, 5-8, 5-8
Ring Weekend, 30, 37
Bayern, 13, 15
Ria Antonia, 22, 26
Kid Cruz, 15, 19
Social Inclusion, 6, 6.25
Pablo del Monte, 27.5, 25
Ride On Curlin, 20, 15

There are matchups, too. I thought this was surprising:

California Chrome -600
Ria Antonia +400

So you only get 4-1 if you bet Ria Antonia will finish in front of Chrome. And you only have to lay 6-1 to get Chrome ahead of Ria Antonia.

Here are some other head-to-head matchups:

Sat 5/17 819 Dynamic Impact -125
6:15PM 820 General a Rod -105

Sat 5/17 823 Dynamic Impact +100
6:15PM 824 Bayern -130

Sat 5/17 833 Dynamic Impact +100
6:15PM 834 Ride On Curlin -130

Sat 5/17 837 General a Rod +110
6:15PM 838 Bayern -140

Sat 5/17 869 Bayern -110
6:15PM 870 Ride On Curlin -120

Sat 5/17 881 Kid Cruz -150
6:15PM 882 Pablo Del Monte +120

I like Ride On Curlin over Bayern.

And then the weird combos:

10 horse field must run for action
Sat 5/17 121 Saddlecloth of winning horse odd -350
6:15PM 122 Saddlecloth of winning horse even +260

Sat 5/17 123 Saddlecloth of winning horse is 1-5 -310
6:15PM 124 Saddlecloth of winning horse is 6-10 +255

Sat 5/17 125 Winning horses name starts with A-M -345
6:15PM 126 Winning horses name starts with N-Z +285

What do you think of this prop?

Will California Chrome win the 2014 Triple Crown

1001 Yes +225
1002 No -275

* Note: California Chrome must start Preakness for action

I like the "No", but I hate to lay -275. I have taken a good bit of the No side of this, though:

105 California Chrome wins Preakness -155
106 Field wins Preakness +135

The odds were +125 a couple of days ago, climbed to +140 yesterday, and gave way a little to +135 today. IMO, Chrome shouldn't be favored over the field at all.
