Baseball.. Where stuff happens for first time ever, all the time
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index...40713_27771156
Bumgarner hit a grand slam in the sixth inning -- one inning after Buster Posey did the same -- as the Giants ended the first half of the season with an 8-4 blasting of the D-backs at AT&T Park. The twin slams made Bumgarner and Posey the first pitcher-catcher duo in Major League history to each hit a grand slam in the same game. Bumgarner's bases-clearing shot was his second slam of the season. The last pitcher to accomplish that? The Braves' Tony Cloninger, who hit two in the same game against the Giants at Candlestick Park in 1966. Sunday marked just the third time that the Giants hit two grand slams in one game in the San Francisco era.

Another favorite of mine. Rick Wise pitches no hitter & hits TWO home runs in game.

Rick Wise could really swing the bat. I was similiar to him in that if I was pitching, I'd better get hits, cause we were gonna need plenty of runs to win. Wore glasses and still ripped every thing he saw. Gap shots , home runs.
Fatboy Reggie Cleveland on in relief. |

Mike Hampton (Astros, Rockies) was a "beast at the plate" during the 2000's. Carlos Zambrano comes to mind more recently.
I remember Ken Brett (brother of George) was a phenomenal hitting pitching in the 70's prior to the DH.

Hall of Famer Walter Johnson had what is generally acknowledged to be the greatest single hitting season ever by a pitcher. In 1925 -- at age 37, no less -- he hit .433/.455/.577 in 107 PA with two HR and 20 RBI. In addition to being a great hitting year "for a pitcher", the .433 batting average is the highest in MLB history for anyone who had at least 107 PA in a season.

The great Don Drysdale was one of best hitting pictures I ever saw.
