After long battle, Disco Rico gone
Joe DiRico just let me know that they could not help Disco Rico any longer and after an extended fight with laminitis, the fine sprinter and sire was euthanized today. RIP. A blue collar stakes winner and stallion that elevated common mares.

I think his sire also died that way. That was also a real nice horse.

Going to miss betting his offspring in NY-bred turf sprints. RIP.

Val Testerman trained Disco Rico was ridden to 5 stakes wins by Harry Vega, 1 each by Mig, Joe Bravo & Alberto Delgado. Mario Pino broke his MDN. He was a product of Maryland legend C. Oliver Goldsmith, tracing back to his fountainhead mare Turn Capp at Longwood Farm.
Out of Round It Off (Apalachee), a 1/2 sister to MGSW Miss Slewpy, both were daughters out of GSW Capp It Off (Double Zeus) from Turn Capp. Turn Capp dropped 18 foals between 1979 and 1997. 16 made the races and 14 were winners for more than $1.4MM.
