Default Delmar

Delmar online contest about to get underway again. Starts on Thursday the 16th and goes until September 7th. I always get a serious whipping in this contest, but still like to play. Would probably be playing a lot of these races anyway.

Every year, it starts off with the Oceanside which is a tough race, and I end up getting off to a bad start and wishing I skipped the race. You don't have to pick every race in the contest to win. Some skips are allowed, although I forget how many.

I'm skipping the first day.

I agree Oceanside looks tough. Looks like it ought to be between Papacoolpapacool and Soul Driver. Gary Stevens has ridden both and is going with the former. However, that one is coming off the layoff. Soul Driver is making his second start and has the best fig at the distance. Not crazy about the outside post. interesting longshot might be Ground Rules. Going up in class, but bred for turf, I think.

I'll probably pick the wrong one too and end up in the hole.

Tomorrow is another difficult turf race (unless anyone has any advice for it).

Going to skip Day 2 as well.

I wish they would use a dirt race for the contest.

Had the winner today, but bet it a bit timidly so I am number 360 in the contest. May be as high as I get. Tomorrow's race way worse than todays. Looks like it should be between the 3 (Conquest Curlgirl) and the 10 (Causeway Carolyn)

Nice pick. Brisnet picking that one on top too and also Ellis Starr, I think. I'm going with Causeway Carolyn.

40k sprinters tomorrow. Should be very tough. I've done better so far in the turf races.

It was the only race I hit for me.

Today is a turf race, so I'll skip.

Very good play in that sprint. Must admit I have almost no clue in sprints. I should probably skip todays race as my selection would most likely be Bayern or Hopportunity. They are sure to be very short priced faves and probably not worth the bet.

I'm going to have to do the San Diego, as I've only done three races and can't come up short of 20.

$100 WIN on Bayern, and if he can't outduel Appealing Tale ... then he's done.

I changed it to $100 to PLACE on Bayern.

Hoppertunity is the overwhelming favorite in the place pool. That could change, but I think Hoppertunity is overbet. This isn't a race to move ahead on. Just trying to hold position.

I'm convinced Bayern isn't the same now.

Yes. I thought for sure he would run big. I think he had 2 or 3 bullet works. I never seem to get it right with him. Glad I didn't actually bet the race.
