Saratoga Thursday July 30th
Out in the morning which isn't a bad thing given this isn't the most appealing of cards. Not going in heavy.
Race 1: #1 Portrade is SCR... Race 2: #2 Kitten's Top Cat: As mentioned yesterday (Cloverdale Nine was SCR), Ward hits at a big clip with these plungers. Runners to his outside are plain awful and the inside horse is not worth 4-5 ML. Race 3: #2 Ordinaire: When Jerkens wins with his 2yo FTS he does when they debut without Lasix, including a NY-bred with Junior up. Odds seem more than right. #9 Linkappleyard: Nevin won with a 2yo debutant last year and she bred/owns this one. No surprise if she has this one ready. #10 Go Go Lucky: Clement is another that does runs his babies off Lasix and I like the set of works. Just not bred to win young/early, however. #6 Stormin Stephen: Solid debut and looms a big chance. Another that doesn't have a pedigree inclined to win early. Never a good sign when Pletcher runs two babies in the same race at the Spa... Race 4: #8 Noble Cornerstone: Impressive winner, especially after being thoroughly washed out in the paddock. Sharp bullet keeps him ready. #3 Ostrolenka: Back to the one-turn which suits him best and he showed two back he can win at 7f. Pletcher just has a poor record by his standards going route to sprint at SAR. #4 Palace: Never been a fan of this one, and Rice is 0 for 13 (5 ITM) 1st off the layoff on dirt here. Race 5: #2 Tin Type Gal: Great set of works for the debut and Motion usually has his turf sprint firsters ready. May want longer but dam could handle the turf okay... #12 Big Thrill is SCR... Casse needs to prove he can win a race down here before I can be confident using him. Could be interested in the Pletcher runner if only one runs. Sharp's runner could be live but doesn't have much turf pedigree to speak of. Race 6: #6 Corsa Veloce: I'm willing to take a shot with this one. The two favs are not standouts by any means and the rest have major questions about their ability. Lone sib won on the grass and that was a sharp work for the new barn. Race 7: #9 Lovely Elle: Her best sib was a grass runner and her dam could handle the surface as well. Her turf debut wasn't a bad effort and she wasn't ready for the return at MTH. I like her chances to upset. Race 10: #10 Winter Wish: If she gets a clean break she should win. 7-2 ML would be a decent price. $0.60 Pick Five Race 2: 1, 2 Race 3: 2, 9 Race 4: 3, 8 Race 5: 2, 5, 10 Race 6: 5, 6, 8 $43.20 $0.60 Early Pick Four Race 3: 2, 9, 10 Race 4: 3, 4, 8 Race 5: 2, 5, 10 Race 6: 5, 6, 8 $48.60 Good luck!
