Tote Company Error Results in 4 Horses Running for Purse Money Only

Four horses running on today's Belmont Park card -- including the morning-line favorites for races 1 and 4 -- will be running for purse money only after Am Tote erroneously entered those horses as scratched.

According to Steve Lewandowski, the NY Gaming Commission steward, Am Tote published yesterday's scratches as today's scratches. Since wagering had already begun, the stewards ruled those horses could run for purse money only, meaning no wagers will be accepted on them.

THe impacted horses are: Daves Gone Bananas (#6), the 5-2 morning-line favorite in race 1, Son of Oahu (#1) the 5-2 morning-line fave inn race 4; Dighton (#1) in race 5; and More Than Kisses (#3) in race 6.

If you used any of those horses in mult-race wagers such as the pick-4, pick-5, pick-6 or grand slam and are unable to cancel those wagers, bettors will get the post-time favorites.

In another incident related to Am Tote, the NY stewards fined that company $7,500 for "re-livening" a horse that had erroneously been scratched at Aqueduct in Feburary. The scratch was supposed to be #4 in race 3 but Am Tomte incorrectly scratched #3 in race 4.
