Venue for August 7th???
The entries are not up yet for Saturday but I did see the Whitney has a five horse field. Any suggestions as to where to play? Saratoga, Ellis Park and Mountaineer come to mind.

Speaking just for myself, I haven't gotten tired of handicapping, playing and betting on Saratoga yet. My bankroll is weary but that's a different matter. It is a shame that the Whitney has only drawn a field of 5 [we could have a universal post about how terrible it is that a graded stakes race with that large a purse only draws a small field because that seems to happen so frequently]. But a field that includes Maxfield, Knicks Go, Swiss Skydiver and Silver State is still going to be fun to watch.
I'd much rather try to handicap a race with quality runners like that than to work through the field of either the West Virginia Legislature Chairman's Cup Stakes or the West Virginia Senate President's Cup Stakes, both of which are $75,000 stakes races on the Mountaineer undercard. There is an optional claimer on today's card at the Spa that offers a purse of $110,000. |

I don't have pps or entries yet, but there are 4 other stakes at Saratoga. That seems like the place to be unless those races too are very short fields which I doubt. a couple have to be turf races and those always seem to attract nice fields.

Entries are out and the Saratoga fields aren't bad so we will go there Saturday with races 2 to 12. Good luck and let's hope there's not too much rain
