I've always been a sucker for the pick 4's,5's and 6's that are fun to put together but for me seldom seem to pay off. However, we play this ROI contest in part to learn about structuring wagers and trying to learn something about this great sport. Here I go again on the all stakes pick 5.
Race 10 - $0.50 pick 5 1,8,10 / 1,2,4,5 / 2,3,6,8 / 2,3 / 3,5 ($96) Good luck to all and thank you to Real Quiet for scoring. |

So many nice races today, hard to pick which one or ones to play. I may have to play a few of these for real today. We sometimes complain about "Slim Pickens," but having a bunch of nice races presents it's own set of worries, although all in all, I'd rather have those worries and it looks like we will have lots of nice races to play for the next couple of months. Always look forward to the LeComte because it seems like the Derby Trail really gets underway with this race.
Got a "mystery voucher" in the mail for Oaklawn for today. Supposed to be worth at least $2 and maybe $25K, but I think I'll pass. Have to go to grandaughter's birthday which is actually tomorrow and was hoping we would celebrate it then, but no such luck so Grandfatherly duties beckon. I will likely miss the live running of some of these races. Good luck all. |

Turned out to be way tougher than I thought it would be. Allmost "Oaklawn"tough. I thought about playing s horizontal bet of some kind, but thought it might be a little chalky for that with the Mandaloun/Midnight Bourbon race and also even the LeComte looked like it could be a little chalky, but the Pick3,4 and 5 all paid Live and maybe learn one day, but I doubt it!!

I think without a real standout in a race that can be singled, the P5 too cost prohibitive. Based on my points play, I could have hit the first 4 races, but would have lost the finale. I thought that race could be a single and I would have tried to make the 3 horse one, but I think the layoff was too much to expect that he would fill that bill. At any rate, you made a good stab at it and I don't blame you for trying. It was a gutsy play that could have paid off. I say "gutsy", just as if we were playing for real money here.
