Venue for February 5
Don't check out of your hotel yet. We're staying in [sort of] sunny South Florida and once again playing Gulfstream Park. The feature will be the Holy Bull, the first of Gulfstream's three Derby preps.
We will be playing races 3 through 12. Post time for race 3 will be 12:58 PM Eastern. Hope to see you in the starting gate. |

Might not be seeing me as it appears that there seems to be some hold up with the free PPs from Brisnet. All other venues seem to be present, but those from Gulfstream are not there. Maybe they'll appear later on today. Usually available late on Wednesday, but not this time. Snow and ice all around here in the Natural State so was looking forward to some handicapping while curled up in my easy chair under my blanky.

As a baseball fan, this is the time of year when I try to help winter pass by counting down the number of days until "pitchers and catchers report." Alas, due to the MLB lockout I can't even do that. |

There are several sites where you can get them, but this seems to be the most comprehensive. However, under the listing of sires, you don't get all of them. For example, all the horses under Spendthrift Farm are not listed in the listing of individual horses. Hope that makes sense. Last edited by cal828 : 02-03-2022 at 11:23 AM. |

Agree Cal, people who were born and grew up south of the mason-dixon line are not good handling snow, sleet or ice. My wife and I grew up in upstate NY so we still have vivid memories of long, brutal winters and snow accumulations of 3-4 ft. The cities, counties and states are prepared for up there but not so much down here since it happens rarely. And the crazy Texans and southerners go out and do exactly what you're not supposed to do . . . walk to fast on ice and fall, drive to fast, slam on their brakes when driving, get in accidents and so on and so on.
It'll all be gone in a couple of days here, but those same crazy people will still be here and likely do other crazy stuff.

Most of the time, I can find the PPs for a given race, but not all the time. I generally go to DRF to determine whether they will be listed under a trainer, or a sire, but there are times when they are not available, which usually happens when they are state breds. This happens when we play some place like Laurel so if it only costs a dollar for Brisnet PPs, it might be worth it to continue to get them that way, if you don't want the trouble of having to hunt them down and still maybe not find them.

I noticed that Oaklawn has already cancelled racing tomorrow due to weather. Hope that you stay warm and safe Cal despite the rotten weather. |
