With Much Sadness
It is with much sadness that I must tell you that Don Jones's wife Patty passed away yesterday after a long illness. Old time members of our group will remember her from the time we were at the Final Turn. She was one of the most active members of that group, always cheerful and helpful to new players and extremely knowledgeable about one of her favorite pasttimes.
I had the good fortune to spend a little time with Don and Patty at Saratoga a few years ago and recall the joy she exhibited while watching her beloved thoroughbreds perform at that historic racetrack. Don posted a photo of their group flashing their bankroll after Alpha made them winners for the day. Her smile was wonderful to behold. Please join me in expressing our sympathy to Don on the loss of such a wonderful person. |

Don, I am thinking about you, buddy. Not much tougher in life than losing your lifetime mate - that's for sure. When you feel up to it, I would like hear how you two met, if you have kids, how long you have been together, and/or anything else you may feel like sharing about Patty and you.
I will remember you two in my prayers. |

Your loss and sorrow touch my heart When from a loved one we must part A quotation was told to me one day That seems appropriate for me to say Do not cry because she is gone Smile for the time you shared ❤️ My husband and best friend Was suddenly taken from me When a trucker crossed the yellow line 💔 So I am well familiar with the sense of loss My heart is with you at this time ❤️ |

Thank you all for your thoughts. I'm Ok as I prepared for this during recent decline after battling Parkinson's disease for 13 years. It's a terrible terrible disease that slowly and then suddenly sucks the life out of you.
Patty was a thoughbred sevant and the one who started getting me involved on these horse racing forums. We traveled to many tracks aroubd the country, none more favorite than Saratoga in our home state. We vacations in the Adrondacks as kids but in different parts. We made many wonderful trips to tracks around the country. We were able to meet many nice but somtimes unique individuals in person after thinking we knew them by their virtual personalities. She knew more about thoroughbreds and racing than probably all of you put together. I knew her mind was being totally taken over by PD when her interest in the sport basically shut down. We were lucky enough to meet Glen Gallivan "Glenners" at Churhill a year before his terribly handicapped body gave way. He knew even more about racing than Patty did. Thus the Gallivn Cup we play for every year. I will try and catch with Points totals soon and hope to eventually get back in the gate with all of you. I am ok!
