Default Trainers Suspension

Ok, what does it really mean that a trainer was suspended? I know they horses have to be under the care of another person, but does the trainer need to stay away from the barn? Can the suspended trainer still say what races a horses goes in and what the horse's workout schedule is, etc etc. Thanks in advance.

I'm in SOCAL.So it is foreign to me.The only guy I saw stop training was Canani, and I think he did it to keep his wife(they were getting a divorce) from getting too much of his money.

Not allowed on the premises of a racetrack or racetrack owned training center or track. Thats it.
You aren't supposed to talk to employees but thats very hard to enforce. Besides, the language always says trainer cant speak to employees. What about the trainers lawn mowing guy? can he speak to him? I mean, you could just give all written instructions to anyone you knew and have HIM or HER call the asst trainer. What are they gonna do? Stewards gonna suspend the lawn mowing guy?

I doubt he admitted that is the reason.Somebody said it was the reason.
He is very evasive when answering questions. It would be typical for him to just say he needed a rest.

mike pretty much hit it head on but yeah euro pretty safe to say asmussen is still callen the shots not blasi. there were some days at arlington when steve wasnt there and i was in charge, lol obviously i was doing what he said to be done. most of these assistants anyways dont even need to be told what to be done they already know and if theres a judgement call theyd call the boss lol and the track would never know anyways

Its a freaking joke. We all know Asmussen talks to Blasi every day and even probably goes to the barn in some sort of disguise. Same thing when Lake was gone and it will be the same now that Pletcher has been busted. Why do they even bother with these stupid suspensions.

Anybody who went to Saratoga last summer can tell you Asmussen was there. Good grief.

This is what I thought. And who is to say that the money the "assistant trainer" earns doesnt find its way back to the "suspended trainer." Why not just fine these trainers $20,000.00, give them 1 year to pay it and be done with it.

Yeah testing or some sort of fund for jocks or whatever. Make it a "charitable" fine.

The horses were all transfered to Jeanine Sahadi who was Canani's girlfriend at the time. It didn't turn out to be such a great idea because Canani and Sahadi ended up having a bitter break-up. Sahadi wouldn't give him any of the horses back and most of the owners decided to stick with Sahadi. Canani practically had to start all over again from scratch.

As I said before, the racing board tries to make sure that the assistant doesn't give any money to the trainer but I'm sure there are ways that the some money could be snuck to the trainer.

The CHRB actually used to do what you recommended just a few years ago. They figued it was a waste of time to fight in court with the trainers since trainers usually appeal the suspensions. So the CHRB would just make the trainers pay a fairly large fine without admitting wrongdoing and there would be no suspension. The CHRB took a lot of heat for this approach. The CHRB has new members now and they do not use this approach.

They could sneak money to the trainers in the form of betting vouchers seeing as thats where most of most trainer's money goes anyways. Maybe Blasi sends Asmussen a Christmas Card with 20K betting voucher in it. He gets it and does a little dance and gets in his Mercedes and heads to the track incognito and drops a few grand down on one of his 5/1 shots he knows can fly to the moon and back...

What kind of heat did the CHRB take for assessing large fines?
