Default My video "care package" just arrived

From Amazon...I finally broke down and bought three vampire movies that I've wanted forever (OK, so the price was right too)...got something to do in between football games this weekend now...anybody seen these?
From Dusk to Dawn
Near Dark
Innocent Blood (OK, I've seen this one a few years ago and loved it to death...so damn funny, I mean really...Don Rickles as a vampire!)

OK, I watched two today...Innocent Blood was a delightful little movie, I mean the first thing we see is Anne Parillaud walking around her hotel room naked...and I mean naked, we get the scenic tour of Anne...that alone was worth the price of the movie. The cast was excellent and the story...well, it's a romantic comedy...did I mention Anne naked? All in all, a fun movie.
The second "movie" I endured was Dusk to Dawn...somebody please tell me why Quentin Tarantino is considered to have talent?? He can't act and the entire script was something dug from a reptile's butt! The only saving grace were the performances of George Clooney and Juliette Lewis! Clooney plays a kick-ass bad guy to the hilt and Juliette is wonderful as the minister's daughter but my god...the story was pure crap! OK, Selma Hayek was watchable in next-to-nothing...pouring booze down her leg so Tarantino's character could drink it off her foot that was in his mouth was a nice touch but then she transforms into this reptilian-like creature that was supposed to be a vampire (I guess?)...ugg!! The ending was completely lame...all in all, one of the worst movies I've seen...thank god I love Juliette Lewis!

Never heard of it Brian...what is it about? I fit the above description, especially the part involving Joss' work. Movie vampires and werewolves are a mixed lot...the mythology changes from movie to movie, in Dusk to Dawn, the vamps were simply monsters while in Innocent Blood, Anne's character was the girl you'd want to take home to mother (unless mother was gay, in which case you'd keep her to yourself)! Joss' demons are the most interesting because of his genius at character development while usually it's strictly good vs evil. The best genre movies I've seen in the past few years were the Underworld movies, but even the mutilated version of Joss' vision of Buffy that hit the big screen was better than most.

I don't remember the WHOLE story. I really liked this boy and was trying my hardest to act interested....it didn't work at all as I kept drifting off to think about other things.

There are sisters (?) and one becomes a werewolf and then the whole thing gets crazy out of hand while trying to save the other, or something stupid like that.

I dunno, I was just going to see if you had seen it and if so, what you thought of it.

I looked it up...appears that it did pretty good internationally but very poorly here in the states, only in theaters a week here. They made the dreaded sequel so I guess it did make money. It looks...well, pretty run-of-the-mill but I'd have to see it of course. I like vampire movies better because the werewolf tends to be cast as a mindless monster (exceptions being Joss' character of Oz and the Underworld movies), a new movie (not sure of release date but soon if not already out) that looks good is Blood and Chocolate. I might catch that one!

I guess I actually just hate vampire movies or anything like it.

Whenever I am watching a good movie, I always get disappointed when the culprit for the mischief ends up being like vampires or aliens or something. It ruins movies, so we probably don't like the same movies to begin with!

Well, I just watched the third movie, Near Dark...I liked this one! The word vampire is never used throughout the movie but it's obvious. I like happy endings, guy gets girl, so this was satisfying! Again, vampires with strictly human features...not even noticeable fangs. Different than any movie of this type I've seen...so, 2-3 ain't bad!

I don't understand your mindset...you interject yourself into this thread which was basically a conversation between Brian and me about some movies and all you contribute are some jabs at me...again, I'm confused, do you have a point of view about these movies, the genre, or are you just trying to act morally superior here? The movies in question were not porn...and I've never hid the fact that I enjoy seeing nude females so what are you saying?

I guess the genre in general just doesn't appeal to me. For what it's worth, the same dude made me watch Buffy against my will. I ended up enjoying that enough where i watched it on DVD for quite some time.

Well, I mostly fell in love with it because of Kendra...the rest was good, but inconsequential beyond her

Sorry to hear that, Kendra was pretty short-lived on the show, the actress played the part well and the character (like all of Joss') was interesting, I guess you aren't a big fan of Drusilla then? Juliette Landau played the role so well!

I dunno, I mean I enjoyed the episodes that she wasn't in (ie most of them) but she was the only character that I really latched on to...the only one that i REALLY liked.

Actually, I think it's time you get over yourself...it isn't a "private" thread cause this is a public forum, you have the right to post anything you want...as I have to question what you mean! For the third time I ask...what is your point? I see nothing pornographic about my post regarding my view of those movies...if you do, then you should enlighten me. I'm well aware that you were probably joking, I'm simply...and civilly...asking for clarification...until I'm told to "get over myself" merely for asking!

That's cool...the great thing about the show (well ok, one of many) is the number of interesting characters. They talked a lot in the extras about that role and the actress...she underwent extensive training by the dialog coach to get that accent...apparently native to a small area of Jamaica. I thought her naming her stake "Mr Pointy" was hilarious!

"Methinks thou doth protest too much" You said I intruded on a conversation with Brian. Your post about your care package was up hours before Brian answered you...so how is that intrusion? Frankly, I don't understand your irritation about my post! It was in jest, I'm sorry you took offense.
