![]() I was at gulfstream a couple of days the last week or two and was kinda dumbfounded by a longshot which paid alot of coin. The trainer had never raced a horse in 2006/7 and his name started and ended with a vowel. The jockey also drew a blank with me, as did his stats. I drew my conclusions and said to myself, " oh , well " another putover at gulfstream. I didn't dwell on it and had pretty much forgotten about it until I just happened upon an Andy Beyer column on the very same subject, from Feb. 6th at the DRF. Apparently Andy just couldn't help but find out what gives with both the trainer and the stable. An amusing story awaits ..........

![]() Manning pulled one of these a few years ago. Not 30-1, but I remember something like this....Maybe it was the same year Gil had trainers sawing horses legs off.

![]() Grande Hombre....won his debut at GP by 4 lengths, at 14/1 odds for Manning--in very fast time....just about everything behind him came back to win their next start.
For a trivia, name the 4th place finisher in that MSW race? Hint: he reeled off 5 straight wins, including the Dwyer and Jim Dandy after that maiden loss |

![]() I respect Andy Beyer but this story is almost implausable. There are so many gaps in the story....they learned to put over 1 st timers in Puerto Rico and Ocala? How does one trainer train for another under a stable name? Etc....
