Default 2/27: Gulfstream (Fountain of Youth Day)

GULFSTREAM PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

1st: 2nd Texas Glitter, 3yo, 5f-T/0' (P5, P3, DD)

Noholdingback Bear will not be held back if he takes to the turf and Valentine's Day drill over Palm Meadows lawn got thumbs up from @DRFVesce. At 10-1 however, Pilotti's Francesco Blue has upset chance making his 3yo debut and his MDN win at this trip and on this strip looks like a beach ball. Interesting opener to wildly inviting card..

Best Value: #9 Francesco Blue 10-1 8th
Next Best: #6 Noholdingback Bear 5-2 2nd
Exotics Use: #8 Drama Club 15-1 7th
Super Add: #2 Expected Ruler 8-1 6th

2nd: FL-OC/N1X, 4+, 7f (P4, P3, DD)

Difficult group of nondescript claimers wearing tuxedos..

Exotics Use: #5 Holy Highway 7-2 3rd

3rd: MSW, 3yo, 8.5f (P3, DD)

Intrigue abounds in this group of 10 with 9 having faced off against many of the good ones in their class and firster Collective Wisdom a half to Mexicoma. No combination of the 5,040 superfecta possibilities, including the 10-1 and up half of Zap Cat, Street Gray, Speaker John, Manitoulin and Collective Wisdom, would surprise..

Best Value: #4 Stone 8-1: Sneaky good debut in Star Hill's graduation 7th
Next Best: #5 Direct Message SCRATCHED: $800k Godolphin has faced toughies..
Exotics Use: #10 Dig Deep 4-1: Must clear from tough post.. 2nd
Super Add: #1 Happy's Causeway 6-1: Happy Alter red improved behind Kelly Tough.. 4th
SCR Sub: #6 Speaker John 15-1 6th

4th: 42nd Gulfstream Park Sprint (G3), 3+, 6.5f (P3, DD)

X Y Jet the one to beat prepping for Dubai and several are well within striking range should he prove vulnerable..

Most Likely: #5 X Y Jet 1-1 WON ($3.00)
Next Best: #7 Trouble Kid 5-1 6th
Best Value: #8 Viva Majorca 12-1 7th
Exotics Use: #4 Ready for Rye 9-2 3rd

5th: 32nd Davona Dale (G2), 3yo-F, 1m (P3, DD)

East Coast star filly Cathryn Sophia must negotiate additional 220 yards, but nothing says the freakish miss won't handle next step towards 2-turning..

Most Likely: #5 Cathryn Sophia 6-5 WON ($2.40)
Best Value: #2 Dearest 5-1 3rd
Next Best: #4 Lewis Bay 4-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #6 R Girls a Charmer 9-2 4th

BC Juvy Filly Turf winner Catch a Glimpse back in tough spot but working well. Undefeated Lira and value gals Gone Away & Wedding Dress logical to use with..

Most Likely: #8 Catch a Glimpse 6-5 WON ($3.20)
Next Best: #4 Lira 2-1 2nd
Best Value: #3 Gone Away 15-1 3rd
Exotics Use: #5 Wedding Dress 12-1 8th

7th: OC/N2X, F&M-4+, 8.5f-T/72' (P3, DD)

First of 2 headachey ALW's (with 10th) with ridiculously deep, competitive fields. Didn't expect to land on Bugle but liked her at SAR and expect with logical improvement as a 3yo that she challenges here despite Kenneally travails with returning runners. Note $400 War Front is 6/2-4-0 with Lanarie..

Best Value: #7 Bugle 8-1 4th
Next Best: #9 Off Limits 8-1 5th
Exotics Use: #1 Gap Year 8-1 9th
Super Add: #10 Frosty Friday 12-1 7th

8th: 54th Canadian Turf (G3), 4+, 1m-T/0' (Rainbow 6, P3, DD)

Fun group of F&M's with big number on Elusive Collection whose dam Recollect is sister to Phillips/Darby Dan clan including Winter Memories, et al, making her eligible to excel in first lawn try. Josie Carroll enjoying breakthrough winter in these environs. Partisan Politics probably the 'most likely'..

Best Value: #3 Elusive Collection 10-1 4th
Next Best: #8 Partisan Politics 4-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #7 Aljalela 8-1 6th
Super Add: #5 Hope Cross 9-2 5th

10th: OC/C, 4+, 8.5f-T/0' (P4, P3, DD)

Brutally tough group and openly rooting for Chuck Simon and 10-1 Xaverian out of great try in the Allen Jerkens..

Most Likely: #7 Thatcher Street 7-2 2nd
Best Value: #1 Xaverian 15-1 3rd
Next Best: #5 Go Around 4-1 WON ($8.60)
Exotics Use: #14 Tapitation 10-1 4th

11th: 34th Palm Beach (G3), 3yo, 8.5f-T/72' (P3, DD)

As noted by Mike Welsch, there won't be 14 horse fields allowed any longer at GP after this weekend, not that a 12 horse version of this race or the prior pair would be easier to cap. First pass at capping this highlighted 9 of the 14. Go as deep in multis as you can..

Most Likely: #9 Gimlet 5-1 5th
Best Value: #11 Converge 8-1 WON ($7.80)
Next Best: #14 Azar SCRATCHED
Exotics Use: #10 Giant Run 6-1 2nd

12th: 74th Fountain of Youth (G2), 3yo, 8.5f (DD)

Mohaymen gets targets to attack and likely wins, but hardly a slam dunk proposition with the 2 Awesomes and Zulu within a lengths or so of him on paper coming in. @DRFVesce identified the favorite as less sharp for this than the Holy Bull and that may be enough for an upset. Awesome Speed (4-1) the first alternative (at best price) from the ever-dangerous Santulli-Goldberg team..

Best Value: #4 Awesome Speed 4-1 4th
Next Best: #6 Mohaymen 6-5 WON ($2.80)
Exotics Use: #2 Zulu 3-1 2nd
Super Add: #5 Awesome Banner 7-2 5th

13th: MSW, 3yo, 9f-T/72' (Super Hi-5)

Good group of lightly tried colts going 9f on the grass with Pletcher/WinStar (American Patriot), Brown/Ramsey (Billy's Kitten) and Mott/Claiborne (Cite) the obvious players. Bond/Clifton (Sport) offer a 20-1 firster that is half to multiple SW's Isabella Sings and Alaura Michele. But most notably, struggling George Weaver (1/26 for meet) adds Lanarie to 30-1 2nd timer Ballivor, a Rooney Family homebred who is a half to excellent 7x winner Monument Hill..

Best Value: #6 Ballivor 30-1 5th
Next Best: #4 Billy's Kitten 4-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #10 Cite 3-1 WON ($8.60)
Super Add: #1 American Patriot 7-2 3rd

Rainbow 6:

8: 1-3-7-8
9: 3-8
10: 1-5-7
11: 9-11
12: 4-6
13: 1-4-6-10

4x2x3x2x2x4 = 384 x .20 = $76.80

P5 Grid:

9: 3-8 (A), 7 (B), 1-2-5-6-12 (C)
10: 1-7 (A), 5-14 (B), - (C)
11: 9 (A), 11-14 (B), 5-6-7-10 (C)
12: 4-6 (A), - (B), 2-5 (C)
13: 4-6 (A), - (B), 1-10 (C)

Simple (A+B): 3x4x3x2x2 = 144 x .50 = $72

$0.50 Pick-5 (13/5,10,12/11,14/6/10) Paid $10.85 (4OF5)

P4 Grid:

10: 1-7 (A), 5 (B), 8-12-14 (C)
11: 9 (A), 11-14 (B), 5-6-7-10 (C)
12: 4-6 (A), 2 (B), 1-5 (C)
13: 4-6 (A), 1-10 (B), 2-11-12 (C)

Simple (A+B): 3x4x3x4 = 144 x .50 = $72

$0.50 Pick-4 (5,10,12/11,14/6/10) Paid $78.40

Good luck!
Steve

Chucks horse was best in the 10th... It looked like he had to check pretty hard.
