Very nicely done, Plen. The chartmaker's line for your effort should say, "quickly opened up an insurmountable lead and then gradually drew further away."

YOU had it nailed Plen. Me, I'm thinking too much college (Clemson ) football is on my mind. I have a break now of 4 weeks. Gotta get with the program here. What I get for picking off the entries.

A short story of Patty and my earlier years getting into forums and connecting very fortunately with inside horse people (and ya'll know my neat story about meeting Storm Cat, yes The Storm Cat). Anyway in 2000 we tripped to Kentucky and went to the Horse Park for our first real experience with greatness and through contacts we made via racing forums, we got to meet Cigar up close and personal in the barn after his show to the gathering of others. What a thrill and talking with his and John Henry's care taker, we learned wonderful tales of how John would teach Cigar to do things. JOhn was a very bad cribber and thankfully Cigar did not learn that bad habit.

Two years later when I had my infamous meet up with Storm Cat, posing as a legit horseman (maybe with breeding interests, go figure) . . . again we visited the Horse Park for the 2nd time and Patty not to my knowing, while I was doing something aside, fed Cigar peppermints (which be loved) all by herself. I'm thinking for her that's what heaven is like, me standing by her holding her hand,

Those were grand days and we have been so fortunate for people we barely know to accept us into the inter-world of getting in the face (literally) of thoroughbred greatness. We need to do this at least one more time before we can't do it anymore . . . and we still to this day maintain contact with one very special insider. Lucky us, I guess?!

OK I finally figured out my brain 50% ANYWAY. The year 2002 when we where in Kentucky, Lexington etc. with grateful personal guidance I had one of my most amazing up close thoroughbred experiences (save my Storm Cat deal) with Riboletta and "friend", who I can't think of now (but will soon) at their retirement farm (memory). I was always a huge fan of Riboletta and much to my luck, while Patty and others where off visiting somewhere else I ventured off alone to a kinda remote paddock.

Much to my surprise and delight, two "mares" came running over to me on the fence line. It was like a mini race to get to me, why?, I had nothing for them to eat, I wasn't important. Were they just bored and here was a poor shmuck human who came to see us, accidently maybe??? They came running like I was the feed guy, Lucky me. I was so in awe of the beauty and strength and size of her and friend. Towering over me, magnificent in raw horse presence. I truly was AMAZED at their beauty and size and I'm sure had goosebumps on every part of my body.

They stayed with me as I talked to them much longer than I should have but they were bored and still thought I was someone special, maybe but they seemed not to care, don't know. To close I can only say I felt the pure thrill of being in the presence of truly amazing equine flesh. What a day, what an experience, what luck to hold in my little old dwindling brain of this great experience. Oh and I fed them both grass out of my hand . . . wow!!!

Congrats on your wire to wire win on Saturday Plenilune. Nicely played and mighty impressive triple digit score. I saw an unfamiliar name at the bottom. Don...did you get some of Ruffians "spiked catnip" perchance?
