Default Venue for December 29

Happy Boxing Day everyone. That also means that it's the traditional opening day at Santa Anita, the beginning of their long winter-spring meeting which I believe runs until June 25.

The stakes races come along at a frequent pace early in this meet, and this Saturday is no exception. So, barring any strenuous objection, I'd like our contest trail to take us to Santa Anita, for a 10 race card that includes the Grade 1 American Oaks and the Grade 3 Robert J. Frankel. First post will be at 12:00 Noon Pacific time.

For those of you who want to follow the Santa Anita meeting, there are two contests that might be of interest, both of which start today:

Santa Anita Showvivor, with generous cash prizes for several different categories: https://showvivor.santaanita.com/

Del Mar Online Handicapping Contest, which lets you wager a mythical C-Note on one race per day for the duration of the Santa Anita meet.

Good choice JB. I'll get my picks in early because at 12 noon pacific, I'll be in my seat at Jerry World getting ready to cheer on my Clemson Tigers to beat those Lucky Charm Irishmen. My Christmas present to me. Hey, it's 15 miles away, and Clemson . . . UHHHHHH, no brainer even though it did hurt my wallet a bit.

Great college football on the 29th to watch if you can.

Clemson - Notre Dame 3:00 eastern
Alabama - Oklahoma 7:00 eastern

It should be awesome in Jerry World win or lose. GOOOOOO TIGERS!!! Been there several times before but only for Texas HS football playoff games.

I forgot to mention that a new wager is being offered by Santa Anita called Horse Racing Roulette. It will be available to any who wish to play it in the ROI. I'm sure that RQ will be glad to add this to his scoring repertoire.

How the Horse Racing Roulette Bet works:
•Each horse is assigned a roulette color: RED, BLACK, or GREEN.
These roulette color assignments can be found in the official program, on self-service machines, the Santa Anita Simulcast, or at your favorite ADW.
•To play, players chose a roulette color. For Example, RED. ($2 Minimum Wager)
•The horse that wins determines the winning roulette color. For example, if the winning horse was assigned RED. All players that chose RED win!
•Industry low 15.43% takeout.

In a sense, you have a choice of three different entries, with Red usually including the ML favorite and Green usually consisting of longshots. Payoffs, not surprisingly, tend to be low, since there is a high probability of success.

My ADW didn't seem to be offering it, but I might have been looking in the wrong place. Sometimes future wagers are offered in a different drop down than the usual wagering drop down menu so that may be the case with the roulette wager also. Yesterday's 9th race paid 3.60 which I guess is not a bad return considering, I think you would have gotten 3 horses had you wagered on "Red."
