Default Tarp on AQU Turf courses

Looks like they've had some kind of tarp on the AQU turf courses this winter. Have never seen this before and wondered if anybody had any information on what was going on and what the reasoning is.

I know they are looking at carding turf races in 2 weeks (weather permitting). Will that grass grow that fast ? Or is this a different kind of tarp.

Just curious.

We've been putting a tarp to promote growth over the courses for many Winters. It may be more noticeable this year because it's only the second time we have had two courses, and we also have tarps to cover the entire course(s) as opposed to just about half in the past.

Once the tarps come off, likely this week or early next week, as turf racing is scheduled to start on Friday 4/5, you will see very green grass underneath them.
