Default 7/19: Nick Tammaro's Saratoga Analysis presented by NYRA Bets

SARATOGA – 7/18/2020
Nick Tammaro ~ @NTamm1215

Race 1- 1 st #1-1A DUBB ENTRY 2 ND #8 BUSTIN SHOUT 3 RD #7 BANANA THIEF

The entry of #1 DOWSE’S BEACH and #1A NEW YORK’S FINEST looks nearly impossible to beat given they
have the most early speed and class edges on their rivals. The former came back strongly in his first try after
leaving the barn of Jason Servis, and the latter has been at his best in the past at Saratoga. #8 BUSTIN
SHOUT was wide last time out on a turf ourse where the inside paths were best. He handled the turf that day
and has a chance to move forward as a live longshot. Whether he can be effective without the lead is the
question. #7 BANANA THIEF is a late runner who is a two-time Saratoga winner. He has a strong late kick
and will benefit if the pace heats up this afternoon.

Race 2- 1 st #3 VICAR’S LEGEND 2 ND #2 LAZARUS PROJECT 3 RD #5 DEEP SEA

#3 VICAR’S LEGEND may not get the pace setup he needs in here, but he had no chance against better on a
sloppy track last time out. He has yet to regain the good form he held over the winter, but this is the softest
field he’s faced in a while and much has gone against him in recent starts. #2 LAZARUS PROJECT will be
dangerous if aggressively ridden this afternoon. He’s another dropping in class off a poor effort against 25k
sellers and also goes 2 nd off a layoff in this spot. His best races in the past have come when she’s shown
speed, so look for him to be forwardly placed early. #5 DEEP SEA got into some traffic trouble around the turn
and into the stretch last time out. He finished with interest to check in second at 2-1 and now goes 3 rd off a
layoff. He has come back from the COVID break in good form and is the one to beat.

Race 3- 1 st #1 DOVIMA 2 ND #3 HALO CITY 3 RD #2 WITCH MOON

#1 DOVIMA is strictly the one to beat off a narrow miss on debut where she tracked a hot pace and surged
late. She will benefit from having that race behind her and now draws a cozy inside slot and the meet’s leading
rider. #3 HALO CITY was just behind the top pick last time out when 4 th beaten a length. This filly clearly
handled turf without issue and will be an early factor if she gets out of the gate in one piece. She merits a long
look at an attractive price. #2 WITCH MOON is a firster by Malibu Moon, whose progeny win on debut at a
12% clip. This gal’s dam was a 3x turf winner and she is just the second to race. Trainer Graham Motion is
more than capable of having one ready on debut.

Race 4- 1 st #5 RELEASETHETHUNDER 2 ND #3 CANDY CORNELL 3 RD #6 TWELFTH LABOUR

#5 RELEASETHETHUNDER was within range of a hot pace last time out at Delaware and wound up on the
slower inside paths in crunch time. He now goes 2 nd off a lengthy layoff and should be positioned well from the
start. Whether #3 CANDY CORNELL starts in this race will go a long way towards determining the outcome.
The concern in that regard is because he just ran 10 days ago at Keeneland, and this trainer’s go-to rider is
aboard #6 TWELFTH LABOUR. That son of Quality Road is a late runner who stands to improve on this
claim. Trainer Robertino Diodoro has outstanding numbers with dirt sprinters first off of claims and this gelding
still has upside.

Race 5- 1 ST #1-1A GENERAZIO ENTRY 2 ND #8 COMPETITIVE HERO 3 RD #5 DATA DEAL

While entries are often bad bets, #1 STRONG DESIRE and #1A MISCHIEVOUS DREAM have plenty to offer
in their respective debuts. The former is a son of Stay Thirsty and is out of the weaker dam, while the latter is
by a higher percentage stallion and is out of a turf-winning dam who is kin to Grade I winning turfer Presious
Passion. #8 COMPETITIVE HERO is by Competitive Edge, a low percentage turf stallion, but his dam is kin to
turf sprint winner Meese Rocks. The fact he has some experience provides an advantage this afternoon. #5
DATA DEAL is a second timer who is kin to multiple turf winner Jen’s Battle. She showed some early interest
on debut before tiring and now adds blinkers having earned valuable experience.

Race 6- 1 st #5 FINANCIAL SYSTEM 2 ND #7 SENTRY 3 RD #1 SPACE MOUNTAIN

#5 FINANCIAL SYSTEM returns off a layoff following a handy score at Gulfstream against N1X company in
January. Trainer Chad Brown is 8-24 with straight claimers on turf at Saratoga ($2.10 ROI) and this son of
Twirling Candy is versatile enough to stay close early, or lay back and make one run. #7 SENTRY is back off
a layoff as well having ended his 2019 campaign in style with a score against lesser. He is a one-run type
who’ll need some pace help, but he improved throughout 2019 and is re-united with the pilot who was aboard
for a good second place finish here last August. #1 SPACE MOUNTAIN drops in class for trainer Mike Maker
after contesting stakes races in his last 11 starts. He has proven to be another astute claim and is spotted
realistically today from a class perspective. While he has been off form of late, he should get a good setup
from a post where he can save ground throughout.

Race 7- 1 st #1 IAINTAFRAIDOFNOSHOST 2 ND #8 DRESSY 3 RD #6 PEACHY QUEEN

It’s a total guess in here, but there’s enough to like about #1 IAINTAFRAIDOFNOGHOST. She is by 10%
juvenile debut sire Ghostzapper and worked a furlong in :10 at the OBS March sale. This filly’s dam is kin to
Grade I winning router I Want Revenge and trainer Jeremiah Englehart was 4-10 in 2019 with 2YO firsters at
Saratoga. #8 DRESSY is by Air Force Blue, who has one debut winner in his freshman crop. The dam here
was a stakes winner on turf, but all of her foals have won on dirt. It seems interesting a conservative veteran
horseman like Barclay Tagg would run this horse on dirt on debut. #6 PEACHY QUEEN is in line for a 100k
bonus with a win as she is from the freshman crop of Runhappy. She is training forwardly for a barn that
showed it might be ready to break out of the doldrums with Monarchs Glen’s runner-up finish on Saturday
afternoon.

Race 8- 1 ST #3 WINIFRED J 2 ND #5 LIGHT IN THE SKY 3 RD #4 MY SASSY SARAH

As long as her last start didn’t take too much out of her, #3 WINIFRED J is one of the best bets of the meet.
She has been involved in super fast paces two starts in a row before understandably weakening late each
time. There is not a runner in this field who can keep up with her early, and she will be a square price given
the two recent ugly running lines. #5 LIGHT IN THE SKY surged late last time out to narrowly miss in the race
where Winfired J contested a brutal early pace. This filly was clearly ready to run off the bench and will be a
major player with another step forward. #4 MY SASSY SARAH was just behind Light in the Sky last time out
and now also goes 2 nd off a layoff. She is a late runner who’ll benefit if the top pick gets hooked up in an early
pace battle.

Race 9- 1 st #2 BLAME DEBBIE 2 ND #3 LASHARA 3 RD #8 CAT’S PAJAMAS

#2 BLAME DEBBIE faced significantly tougher last time out when she contested the early pace before
checking in third at 9/2. The winner of that race returned to win the River Memories on Sunday and this
daughter of Blame now returns to the 3YO ranks. She is the inside speed as well going a trip where pace will
make the race. #3 LASHARA was briefly in tight last time out and finished with interest. She moved forward
off an impressive maiden score in Florida and has plenty of upside for trainer Mark Casse. With a slightly
cleaner trip and a good pace setup she can get top honors today. #8 CAT’S PAJAMAS has scored two wins
in a row, following up an upset win at Churchill with a N1X triumph at Belmont. She has tactical speed, which
makes her a threat every time and can keep her within range of her stablemate early.

Race 10- 1 st #5 SHADOW RIDER 2 ND #7 MALIBU PRO 3 RD #1 ARMAMENT

In a race that’s hard to decipher, #5 SHADOW RIDER takes a sizable class drop for a barn that scored a win
here on Saturday. He has been effective at today’s distance and should get enough pace to run at in this
affair. This being his second start off a layoff signals he’ll be ready for an improved performance. #7 MALIBU
PRO is strictly the one to beat for trainer Robertino Diodoro, as he drops in class as well following a solid effort
in Minnesota. This son of Malibu Moon was taken for 32k in April and has not moved forward like most claims
do for Diodoro, but this is a realistic spot. #1 ARMAMENT is a pace player getting a jockey change to a far
more aggressive pilot and he faces weaker today than he did last time out. The inside post is a positive and he
has run well at Saratoga before.

SARATOGA MEET STATS: 31-8-4-10 $65.70
