Default Saturday November 2 Breeders Cup ROI Wagers go here

Please post your ROI wagers for the Saturday BC races on this thread. Use whatever remains of your original $200 BC bankroll on Races 4 through 12. Since this IS a BC contest, let's limit our ROI wagers to only BC races.

Please have your wagers posted not later than 12:00 Noon Pacific time (3:00 PM Eastern).

Good luck to all and thank you to Real Quiet for scoring.

All year long I have loved the campaign that Thorpedo Anna has run. I'm going to key her in an exacta array on a card that otherwise has me baffled.

Edit at 12:30 - the scratch of Awesome Result changes the perspective of this race a lot. Had to change this wager and delete a comment I had made about the questionable performance of many of the Japanese based runners on Friday and whether that sent any messages for Saturday.

Race 6 - The Distaff

$100 Exacta: 2 / 6

$50 Exacta: 2 / 1,5

Well played. Kudos. Let's all agree to meet again next year in the same place.

Sounds like a great idea, as long as we get together lots of times prior to that as well.

It was gratifying to see Sierra Leone finally achieve the success that his Derby preps suggested were possible. After disappointing efforts in the Derby, the Belmont and the Travers, many players were skeptical of his chances. I'll confess to being one of them. I even saw a post on another forum that said in connection with Sierra Leone that friends don't let friends bet money on horses that burn money. Yet the bettors were lining up to back him in the Classic. From his morning line of 12-1, I think he was bet down to close to 6-1. His connections should thank Derma Sotogake and his jockey for setting such unrealistic fractions that set the race up for a strong closer like Sierra Leone. The last I saw Derma he was rapidly backpeddling through the field, completely spent from the pace. It is to the credit of Fierceness that he closely pressed that pace and still had the ability to almost hold on near the finish.

Not much consolation, but the talking heads didn't do all that great either. As I recall, about half of them went with Forever Young and half went with City of Troy. As a rule, I try to keep my own counsel, but I did allow myself to watch a podcast on DRF and there was a lot of talk about closers being at a disadvantage because of the short stretch at DelMar. That did not seem to factor to in to either the Filly and Mar Sprint or the Classic. I don't think I learned much from yesterday about handicapping, but I think I might have about betting. I had a some actual winners and near winners and managed to torpedo myself with poor betting habits. I will forthwith attempt to correct that, but as we all know, these resolutions have a way of going by the wayside in the heat of actual battle and most of us revert to bad habits.
