Maybe so, but I still need one.

By the way, I love Drifty... root for him any time he runs, but my personal opinion on him is that he's a talented horse who is the epitomy of a herd animal. He gets out in front and he wonders where everyone else is, so he 'hangs.' Nothing wrong with a horse like him who brings home a paycheck, but the truth of the matter is... he's not a gritty, 'fight til the end' kind of horse.

Don't be negative. Honest assessments of the horse's running style and tendency to pick up slices will be considered a smartass undertone and will make you subject to more rules regarding what you can and cannot say about a horse.

I think if horse racing had a lure like greyhound racing that Perfect Drift would go down as the greatest racehorse of all time.

I still don't see where the "bashers" are at in this thread.
He is a very good horse, and it seems like everyone that has posted in this thread agrees on that.

It's useless to even try. It's just like the Bernie fans. You can't even point out anything factual about the horse without it being construed as an egregious attack on the horse and its owner and the entire sport of horse racing.

the bashing of him has been going on for years going back to the espn board. he was bashed and bent over by racing not even being a finalist for the eclipse the year he beat mineshaft and smashed congaree with ease and lost 1 race on the dirt the entire year and that being the BCC when funny cide with julie krone up that day wiped him out on the turn. somehow congaree but managed to be a finalist but anyways he hasnt gotten the respect he deserves for a long time now

I'd love to own Drifty. Not saying I wouldn't... just saying that he is what he is and those that think he's going to change his running style now are probably incorrect.

That's an absurd statement to anyone that follows the sport and knows that Drifty isn't exactly known for blowing by rivals in the stretch. That's it. Since then we have had to hear about his owners, what they do, what they read, how much money he's earned. None of that matters in what the discussion was about. I love how people are bothered Drifty's not getting his respect, who in this thread hasn't said he's a good horse. What more do you want? I guess being honest about things bothers some, but it shouldn't. There is nothing wrong with being honest about a horse or his place in history.

well if youre gonna be honest then actually be honest LOL, he wasnt flat down the lane. did you even watch the race?

He certainly was no match for the winner, so call it what you want. Since you're such an expert, was I incorrect in thinking he wasn't going past the winner no matter how much further they went? Honestly....
you were incorrect in saying he was flat, again did you actually watch the race?

Yes, he was incorrect, but as we can see, he still hasn't the grace to admit even that--when the fractions and more information regarding the race results were provided.

That's unfortunate. To be that self-consumed.

Thank you Grits for showing me the light.

I was wrong. Perfect Drift was charging hard and almost surely would have won by open lengths with a better trip. He is a legend in the game and the most underappreciated horse ever. I am going to try and find a Drifty hat like Buffy and wear it PROUDLY everytime he runs. Oh and Grits you aren't crazy either, everything I have said in this thread has been wrong.
No, everything you have said in this thread has not been wrong, not at all. There was nothing wrong in noting Perfect Drift's seconds. It was how you noted them, and continued to do so.

Knowledge is a very good thing when used and delivered well. And you are very knowledgable about the sport. And in that, I am sincere, I wouldn't trouble myself to be otherwise.

When the knowledge one has is delivered in such a way as to be a put down or smart alec--to me it casts a shadow on that person and for obvious reasons their knowledge is no longer as important to me due to the need I recognized in them to disparage.

It does not concern me that you think me psycho; that you think me crazy. That's your decision.

As Byk says, this place is like a University campus with many students, even a few seasoned and aged faculty members here, as well.

Don't worry DaHoss. Not only does talking about Drift without superlatives make you dishonorable and without grace...it apparently also has the potential to make you one of the worst Christians on Earth,if I haven't scooped that title up yet. PMs are my favorite:

Honestly, one of the poorest I've ever witnessed. I think you are far removed from knowing what a Christian is. You have a long, long road ahead of you.

Well, I can welcome any criticism of what I post, but an ad hominem attack on my faith is unwarranted under any circumstance -- especially from the you don't know me queen. Irony Central in the PD thread.

It's ridiculous, for sure, but I can't take all the credit for that. Credit where credit is due, I guess.
