I love seeing all the protest about Notre Dame letting Obama speak at this years graduation ceremony. He has absolutely no place at ND, it makes no sense letting someone speak who goes against everything your University stands for and believes in. Good to see bishops and priest along with many others getting all over them for it. If they go through with it and let Obama be the speaker, I will lose a lot of respect that I have for them.

yes, it's always best to only have people who agree with you on everything to come around. much easier that way.

75% of the students want him to speak or 75% of the ones they ask want zerO to speak?
For God's sake Obama is for infanticide. The murdering of a child after it is born if the intent of the "mother" was to kill her baby. Norte Dame is supposed to be a catholic school. Catholics are supposed to pro-life. I know there are plenty of them that aren't and they are worthless.

i think ND is being ridiculous.. who wouldnt want the POTUS to speak at your school? They should have Michael Jackson... he fits in with the Priest mentality.
Dumb asses. At least they suck at football.

What sense does it make to hold the sanctity of life so high at your University yet let someone who could give a **** less about it speak? It's like letting a KKK member speak at MLK's funeral. |

Just out of curiosity, would you "lose a lot of respect" for the school if they allowed someone who was in favor of the Death Penalty to speak at the school? |

Can you buy condoms on campus at ND? Is there a REALLY bad STD problem there?
just wondering and by the way Irish, I really disagree with a lot of the liberal ideas Obama is implementing, but I would jump on a chance to see him speak... Also, I didnt agree with tons of things Bush did, but I'd love to see him speak as long as he brought a translator. abortion is a touchy subject.. but I know a few women who have had them (as does everybody), and I would never judge them for making that hard decision.

The thing I don't get - and the reason I brought up the death penalty - is why abortion seems to be the only issue that matters for some people.
For people like IrishofNDMan, it seems like as long as the person is anti-choice they are welcome at a place like ND, even if they disagree with the Church about other issues. If some other person agrees on a lot of the issues the Church has an opinion on, but is pro-choice....well, that person isn't welcome. Now, clearly this isn't reflective of all Catholics, because Obama got 54% of the Catholic vote (as compared to under 50% of the Protestant vote), but a few high-profile Catholics have seemed to raise the anti-choice agenda as the one and only criteria for being a true Catholic. As a former Catholic, that seems a little odd to me. |
