I think Capital Account should be better in the Dirt Mile than the sprint

Hope it's okay to post a couple of random things...

Gatewood was sent to Australia, presumably for the Melbourne Cup... he's entered on Saturday (G2 Herbert Power Stakes).

I thought Nahrain was definite (as per Roger Varian) (?).

Bated Breath (Turf Sprint) is retired.

More quotes about the 1,000 tons of sand added to the SA main. Worth noting and tracking..

http://www.drf.com/news/breeders-cup...um-parts-field

Spawr, as have many other trainers based at Santa Anita, voiced his concern about the racetrack being much slower than usual this fall. Bob Baffert, whose Coil and Capital Account finished on-two in the Sprint Championship, kept Coil at home for the Sprint Championship to get him a start over the track prior to Breeders’ Cup Day rather than sending him to New York to run the previous weekend in either the Vosburgh or Kelso.

“The times were really slow on Saturday,” Spawr said.

The final time of the Sprint Championship was 1:09.88 and Spawr said a race like that usually would be run around 1:08. “If the racetrack stays this way it will be a concern for us, although my feeling is by Breeders’ Cup Day it won’t be,” he said. “If we get a couple of rains, it should tighten things up.”

What is the feeling of this group, how should we view this as it relates to preps? Should we view preps over the SA track as taking a lot out of the runners and that they might have trouble bouncing back or should we consider them fitter because they have raced and/or worked over the track?

Baffert generally makes pretty good choices around these sorts of things so I guess I'm going to give an edge to runners who have either shipped early to race or train or who call California home.

Of course the meet just started but there have been 47 races on the main track with 422 starters; 338 of them made their last start at either DMR, FPX or HOL. Of those starters 45 (12.4%) won, which is consistent with the percentage of starters. The other two winners came from GG and SAR (Love and Pride in the Zenyetta Grade 1 Stakes). Again for the same time period 217 starters had the most recent workout over the track and once again the results were consistent with expectations (27 won, 27 places and 27 showed; 12% each). We need to keep an eye on this for the next two weeks as runners ship in but right now it is not showing to be a big factor.

Why wouldn't Emcee go in the Sprint? Why is CC's Pal going at all?

If Shareta does come for the turf, a massive threat. She gets over firm going so much better than ground with give.

And Leatherbury is still seeking "angels" for Ben's Cat? They've earned over $1.2 million on the horse, either bet on him by supplementing and hope he finishes third or better or don't go.

What's the view on how much running over that very soft Arc course took out of all of them including Shereta?

Any word on a Godsen horse named Gatewood coming over for the Turf? He ran third 3/4 of a length to Dandino who was the only closer into that slow oace Canadian International on Sunday?

Haven't seen a confirm on Gatewood, other than the name being mentioned.

For the bolding that Brown Panther has above, trainer Tom Dascombe just stated that he is skipping BCS day at Ascot and going to a race at Longchamp on October 28. That would presumably take him out of the Breeders Cup entirely.

I've also been told that Chinchon is supplementing to run on Saturday at Longchamp and the BC Turf is still a go for the 2010 UN winner, and the 2012 Singapore Airlines International Cup victor.
