At least I read the article you put out.
Now, I'm going to take my wonderful dog for a nice walk. Maybe we'll find some trees that will be spared the fate of becoming paper to become one of Sowell's books. I'll take time to talk to the tree. It makes about as much sense. And when my dog lifts his leg, his commentary on Sowell will confirm mine. Long live the trees!!!
Spare them the fate of becoming matter on which the words of fools are printed.
Let's take a look at the single paragraph which you so condescendingly denigrate ...

"Most blacks are working people and taxpayers, who are not benefiting from the welfare state programs of the Democrats or from affirmative action. Many live in places where they are more likely than whites to become victims of the violent criminals that liberal judges turn loose and liberal governors pardon."

1. "Most blacks work and pay taxes ... " They most certainly do. Are you asserting that a majority of African Americans don't work and pay taxes?

2. "[Working blacks] are not benefitting from welfare programs or affirmative action ... " They most certainly are not; working people do not ... in fact cannot ... collect welfare. Are you asserting that working blacks are also collecting welfare?

3. "Many [working blacks] live in places where they are more likely to become victims of violent criminals ... " This is patently true; areas with majority black populations suffer from far more crime than other areas ... with the overwhelming percentage of victims being black. Are you asserting that majority black areas have less crime than majority white areas? Or that the crime victims in those areas aren't overwhelmingly black?

4. "Liberal judges turn loose [violent criminals] ... " I would substitute the word "leftist" for "liberal" ... but other than that, this is another patently true statement. Are you asserting that liberal/leftist judges haven't released violent criminals?

5. "Liberal governors pardon [violent criminals] ... " Can you say "Willie Horton"?

If you'd open your mind and expand your horizons ... you'd soon realize how brilliant and insightful Dr. Sowell is ... and ... you might even learn something.

Oh, Crist... More Sowell being psyhco-regurgitated as patently true. Come on. Come out from behind the curtain.

Why do you think the Roadmap To Peace failed?

Come on. Gon;t be a coward. It's ok.

Ya needle.

OMG. This is repent. This reads exactly like repent. Totally taken with one man because it fits neatly into his worldview.

Obviously, you didn't read my response carefully. No "twisting of my words" will deny their truth.
Twist away! You must be taking lessons from Chubby Checker.

That's it kids...............
Then how do you learn? You just live in your own little shell and information magically comes to you without passing through another human? I was not around with a black family in the 50's to witness their duping into the welfare state. So I must rely on people like the Bold one who refers to Sowell and then rate that information against others I have read.

Hank Ballard invented The Twist ... in Brooklyn.

Just out of curosity... how in the heck would you have had dinner with James Carvell? Old friends? Just ran into the bald one and said dinners on me?

And I told you he was an entertainer. He has a gift just like Limbaugh and O/Reilly... their mouths are hooked directly to their brains. But I believe most of these guys deep down are smart enough to realize their sometimes futile rationale to please their followers. They really have to make bizarre arguements to follow the agenda on occassion and they have to know it. Especially Carvell, his wife would let him know it.

BTW, the job was Colin Powell's for the asking. He deferred due to his wife's wishes. She thought he would have been asassinated. Unfortunately she may have been right.

Conde Rice is duty bound to accept the challenge. If for no other reason than to reward people like myself who put their lives on the line so that she would have this oppurtunity.
Gotta disagree with you on this, oh mighty one.

Neither of them is a professional pol ... and neither ever endured an election campaign.

Powell and Rice could never do this first time out ... they'd need a race over the track first. You can run for local office (maiden) ... state office (allowance) ... or even senator or governor in your home state (state-bred stakes) ... but not for president (G1) first time out.

I love the analogy but it's true. Running for president as your first political election is like a maiden first time starter debuting in the Kentucky Derby.

I'll give you 8-1 that Condie is a maiden.
But she's got good hair. So she just might break her "maiden" soon.

I jokingly call her a triple threat. She's a "maiden" or something close to it (not that there's anything wrong with that), a female, and a black.
Then you add Republican to the mix and it just does not compute.

Seriously though, I really admire her. Hope she survives the Bush presidency without taking too much damage.

I also hope she survives the Bush presidency.
She seems to be very intelligent and articulate.
I hope she does well in her future, though I don't think voters will easily forget the excuses she's made defending the present policies.

Do you mean the policies which have kept all of us safe and secure at our keyboards for the past five years?

Don't think it wasn't noticed that you and your friends never responded to that post.

This thread has been like a chess club room ... a Grand Master taking on a dozen chumps at once ... and beating them all eased up.

Yeah ... that's the ticket ... Bold Brooklynite ... Grand Master of the Off Topic-General Forum ...

... the rest ... nowhere.

Hank Ballard wrote and recorded "The Twist" in 1958 ... Chubby Checker made a cover version in 1959 ... but it bombed.

Checker's version gained some audience in 1960 ... but only as a hit song ... not as a dance.

In late 1961 ... Checker recorded "Twist Again (Like You Did Last Summer)" which became a hit song and a new dance novelty. "The Twist" was then re-released and became a smash hit song ... and a national dance craze.

Truly a legend in your own mind...as I believe I said in response somewhere to a post by Scuds...arrogance isn't a bad thing until paired with stupidity! When you've been shown to be a narrow-minded fool and still think you've won the argument, you are beyond help...and a complete waste of time to respond to anymore. Concrete thinking, robotic echolalia...a true credit to the American right! You remind me of the joke about the ant floating downstream on it's back yelling, "raise the drawbridge boys, I got a hard-on!" Sorry to tell you guy, but like that ant, the logic and "evidence" behind your arguments simply doesn't come close!
