![]() So in the end was the whole Favre saga a giant success, a dismal failure, or somewhere in between? Favre certainly exceeded my expectations and had a really good season leading his team to a first round bye. On the other hand, he didn't get to the Super Bowl, he Favred it in the end costing his team a chance at attempting a game winning FG, and does anyone really believe with their schedule that they wouldn't have been a playoff team without Favre? Now they go into next season with just as uncertain a QB situation as they were in this year. They'll have to endure an offseason of "will Favre be back" and are no closer to knowing whether Travaris Jackson will be a serviceable NFL QB. I tend to think it was more a success than a failure since they made the NFC Championship but once they got Favre it was pretty much Super Bowl or bust so in that respect it was a failure.
Also, do people think Childress will/should be canned? I think he should be, that was one of the most poorly coached games I have ever seen, but I don't think he will be. |

I also think that Childress' timeout management and play calling in that game, and specifically the 4th quarter, needs to be talked about. And who takes responsibility for 12 men in the huddle? As bad as Favre's pick was, it should never have come down to them needing to throw on third down.

They were the better team yesterday and basically gave the game away. Between the turnovers and the terrible coaching they pretty much gave the game to the Saints. I don't think he will be canned, but I think he should be. What happened there in the last 2 1/2 minutes is unforgiveable. I thought Favre played great yesterday. Took a beating and made some great throws. As far as the pick goes, yes it was a bad decision but the terrible coaching put him in a spot where he needed to get them back into FG range. The guy was trying to make a play from a position that the conservative coaching (all of a sudden) and terrible penalty put him into.

I honestly don't think you can blame Childress for the 5 turnovers which could have easily been 7 turnovers yesterday.

That said, I have a bet with Kevin on the Saints to win the NFC from week 2 so I'm happy to collect and will be rooting for them in the Super Bowl.

![]() I don't get the criticism of Childress yesterday. Peterson ran for 125 yesterday....they should have run him on 1st and 2nd down from the 33 that last drive. He gets 5 yards, it's easy Longwell range...easy. Perhaps the 12 men was his fault, but the two runs on 1st and 2nd down was absolutely the right thing to do.

He was by far the best football player on the field for FL's 2008 championship, and underrated in the draft because of behavior issues and maybe a lack of wonderlick smarts. He's the only player on the Vikings that I like!

Would love him on the Eagles though I am plenty satisfied with Maclin and wouldnt trade Maclin for Harvin.. though I find them very similar.

![]() 1) Lost the toss going into OT.
2) Shouldn't have that stupid rule (1st team to score wins the game.) 3) Kicker should of knocked it out of the end zone (instead, a tired team has to cover a return.) 4) Really bad P.I. call in OT (really points out why OT shouldn't be won by the 1st team to get a field goal.) 5) Didn't get the call on a a questionable catch in OT. I've seen that go either way. To me, it's a catch, but often it's not (to them.) 6) Some fool didn't have his hands in the proper position to receive the hand-off from Farve (after the Bush Blunder.) Yep, there's that 3 points that turned out to be rather necessary. 7) Should you really expect a Q.B. to be able to win a game when his team is not taking care of the football at all? 8) How about giving the Saints some credit for pounding him? It's pretty predictable that a hurt Q.B. will be one who makes an important mistake. Fact is he got them to a tie, and then he never got a chance to play in O.T. He made some really nice passes to get them into Saints territory on that last drive. He played a lot better than I expected. The rest of his team played a little worse than I expected. Saints didn't play very well. If they cover like that, then Manning will destroy them. |
