He basically said the time was ordinary. Anyway, it wasn't true. His time was a very good one and so were his figures: Beyer, Ragozin, Thorograph.
I don't recall that in the least bit...he said something about an impressive win in a marred Preakness. By the quiver in his voice, I'd hardly think he took the time to say something bad.

It was there ...probaby edited now. Do you have an original tape? I think he either said 'lackluster' or 'pedestrian'; it was something along those lines. I know he was upset, but it still seemed uncalled for...and not true!

uncalled for to me is being more worried about what Tom Durkin said about the precious son of A.P. Indy rather than the other things that were going on, but hey, that's just me.

maybe he was wrong in the adjective he used for the time, but you might be reaching to say that it was meant as a slight to Bernardini. Everyones minds were in a swirl right at that moment. I imagine that it was a challenge to continue to concentrate perfectly on the the race call after seeing Barbaro pull up.

whatever it was he more than made up for it!! I remember him screaming about him never breaking a sweat at Saratoga.

Of course he screams about the blistering pace when they run the opening quarter in 22 3/5.

Does anyone know what he's not working the GP meet this winter?

I like Larry C, but I was shocked to hear Durkin was not asked back. Has to be some story.

Sorry, I screwed up and got Dukrin and Vic Stauffer confused. Yikes.

My apologies.
