Default Rescue Party

Wondering what possibility there may be of Shug running Rescue Party in the Hutchenson Saturday instead of the A1X. Seems like it is going to be a VERY short field and maybe a chance to get some graded $$$. I know this would be a very strange move for a patient trainer like Shug...BUT I got down on this colt prior to his maiden win ($40 at 150-1).........so I sure would love to see him in this spot!!!

he is bred to run alllllllll day long and he broke his maiden despite being rank and steadied in a sprint!

i saw it, but alot of horses are bred to run all day long and at this point this horse is well behind schedule

PG, I agree with you totally. I just take 2 horses every year in January and play a future on them. My only rule is they must be a minimum of 150-1....so I just have rooting interest in this horse and I think he has a nice upside. BUT, he is certainly behind schedule.

i questioned a few days ago if there was really much to like about this horse, and i guess today answers that question in some ways.

i will say i think the spot is extreamly weird, he breaks his maiden at a mile, he is bred to go long and shug shortens him up, i dont get it

You're totally right, I wouldn't trust Shug with a $4,000 claimer. Today just furthers that opinion. Terrible spot. Seriously, what was he thinking?!

Yeah, Shug doesnt know too much. He only won what 5 G1's on the same day and trained a few champions. You gotta be kidding me. The track is souped up, which greatly hurt Rescue Party's chances and Im sure he could give you plenty of reasons as to why he ran him in this spot.

You just watch, one day this Shug guy is going to catch on and make something of himself.

Well a good trainer wouldn't have put him in an incomprehensible spot like that.

Shortens him up? He went from 1 mile to 7.5 furlongs so Shug shortened him up by half a furlong, 200 yards.

Is that really so extremely weird?

I took him in the Derby Future PG...but that certainly doesn't mean Shug is a bad trainer....he shortened this horse up a half a furlong...WOW...he ultimately has plans for all of his horses and my derby future has nothing to do with how he trains Rescue Party...do you remember Personal Ensign, Easy Goer, Pine Island, Storm Flag Flying, Daydreaming, etc?????? How can you question this man when you feel NoBiz is unbeatable?

Shug needed an easy spot and a win to push this horse forward. He got the right spot, didnt get the right run, and now he will back off and not press at all. Thats one of the things that make him a great trainer, he does whats right by the horse.

This horse has a lot of raw talent, I think hes a lot like Corinthian was. Hell be a graded stake horse or Ill eat a shoe

Unfortunately this colt is done for a while, which is a real shame. Like him or not, he looked like he might turning the corner and a nice colt.

I hope he comes back sound and healthy.
