I tried my best to be stingy with the votes here, but these girls are just heads and shoulders above their male counterparts. I’ll be shocked if a female doesn’t win American Idol this year.
Gina Her dress matched her hair, which in itself is admittedly a little cute. I liked her song choice, but as far as the vocal went I didn’t really care one way or another. She was good after the first fifteen seconds, but she doesn’t get me crazy in any way -- good or bad. Final Score: 7.0 phone-in Votes Alaina She started out incredibly. The entire performance was nothing but downhill from the first twenty seconds. I was hoping to be surprised after she started out so well, but there were no fireworks after the opening. Just duds. Final Score: 6.0 phone-in Votes Lakeisha (aka Keke J according to our local news interview with her!) Her grandma is positively adorable and has a little crush on Ryan Seacrest. As expected, she was formidable. I don’t think she was as good as last week, honestly. The good thing for her, is she can show up with a “bad” week and still be in the top three girls at this point in the competition. Oh wait, I wrote all of that before she finished. Just kidding, I take it all back. I love Keke J. Final Score: 9.0 phone-in votes Melinda I loved her story and the background about her best friends, her “Gails,” and the audition wardrobe booklet they assembled for her to let her know what to wear for each successive audition. I didn’t think I loved the song choice at the beginning. I loved everything else. Without a doubt, the best performance of the elimination rounds so far. Flawless. Final Score: 10.0 phone-in votes Antonella Well, we don’t need to worry about her singing performances speaking for themselves anymore. They’re doing a fine job. She’s the female Sanjaya, by which I mean, just as awful. It’s as if there is a tool of some sort in her mouth (!!) that somehow automatically makes every note that comes out of her mouth warbly and off-pitch. As a gesture of mercy, I give her one phone-in vote tally for each note that she actually hit during her entire performance. Also known as, five. Final Score: 5.0 phone-in votes Jordin So cute. So cute. So cute. She’s been my favorite from the auditions. I fell in love with her the second she opened her mouth in Seattle. With that said, this song was a huge test for her. I think she passed with flying colors. She is an incredible vocalist for someone her age. Hell, she is an incredible performer for someone of any age. Great performance in every aspect. Final Score: 9.5 phone-in votes Stephanie So cute pt. II. She strayed a bit in her big note in the middle of the song. Obviously she is one of the best talents in here; she’s got a huge voice. Plus, she’s going to get Jordin’s extra votes because Jordin can’t figure out how to make “six” with her fingers and made “seven” once. Stephanie is a contender in this competition in every sense of the word. Final Score: 9.0 phone-in votes Leslie Dear Leslie, I hate that you remind me of my old roommate in Portland, you know, the stupid hipster one with all of her stupid hipster friends and their stupid hipster haircuts and stupid hipster dancing. I hate your weird hair. I hate the weird way your jaw moves. I hate your wardrobe choices. I hate the sound of your voice. I hate that weird drunken end-run thing you did. I hate that you sang the same song as AJ did last night. I hate everything about you really. xo, Brian W. Spencer Final Score: “The Mark of the Barba” 5.0 phone-in votes Haley If you showed me a picture of Haley Scarnato and asked me, “is this one of the American Idol finalists or that girl from the Price is Right last week who bid $11 on a box of chicken Rice-A-Roni?” I would have been legitimately stumped. With that said, I like this imposter’s song choice, and the vocal was acceptable. Ok. Final Score: 6.5 phone-in votes Sabrina She’s consistent. I don’t love her last note that wobbled around a bit. She’ll be good enough to potentially sneak into the top 12, but without dramatic improvement in the personality department, she’s not going to be your winner by a longshot. Once again, It comes down to Lakisha, Melinda (who I think looks like Bookman from Good Times with long hair), Jordin (My favorite and longshot pick), Stephanie and Sabrina. Goodbye Leslie (sorry Brian) and Haley. Antonella and Alaina get by for at least one more week on thier looks. As far as Gina she was ok, but not even in the same ball park as when Carrie sang the same song 2 years ago! But it's a matter of time for her also.

You men are CRAZY! I agree the black girls in this competition are tops. But do you honestly think that Antonella sings better than Leslie? COME ON!
I am in no way shape or form think Leslie is better than the top five but I think she is better than the rest of them. Atleast she has a unique voice. I am not a huge fan, but I do think she belongs in the top 6 girls. And one thing I do want to see. I want to hear her sing Cher. Her voice reminds me of Cher. Melinda was #1 last night. HANDS DOWN. I think it is going to come down to Lakisha and Melinda.

I guess I just don't see how someone who sings a song more OFF-pitch than ON for an entire performance is somehow worthy to make the top 12. Just picking your brain Somer!
